Freelander 2.... for dummies !
Discussion
We sold our 2010 freelander hse auto earlier this year.
No real issues with it although at almost 10 year old it had a few issues- rear wiper not working, boot release button temperamental, a/c not working.
Nothing major but then I got rid before stuff like rear diff/ auto gear box start giving grief.
Fantastic in the snow and would go anywhere my mums disco 4 would go- but it did have Michelin latitude cross tyres on which are amazing.
I would recommend one although we did sell it as we found it a bit dull- but previous car was a Audi A4 allroad 3.0tdi
My uncle has one of the last freelander 2 and it looks really nice!

I haven't driven one for a while but some years ago we took a new-ish FL2 to the Alps. It belonged to a female friend of ours, who was with us, but se flatly refused to drive it in the mountains/snow so that all fell to me.
I was really impressed by it. I clearly remember driving it back up a reasonably steep road late one evening when it had been snowing heavily. Probably 6" of fresh snow laying, 4 of us in the car. The FL just steadily worked it's way up the hill with no drama at all. You could feel the power moving around between the wheels as it got grip where it could. It also dragged itself and all our luggage out of the very steep drive of our chalet on the last day when we'd had a massive dump of snow overnight.
Reference point from me is that I have, and have had, numerous larger 4x4s over the years.

Thanks all for the reply's.
I'm really thinking I should go for a Euro 6 spec vehicle to try and future proof myself against the new emissions regulations that seem to be springing up.
I work in Slough (for my sins...) and according to their website the council are reviewing the possibility of banning or charging to enter the town.
Who knows where this is going to end ?

Had a freelander 2 for 4 1/2 years . Fantastic car , HSE manual spec . Short of nothing in the goodies section .5 services plus one waxoyl . never missed a beat . The only problem is ................what do I buy Next ? Lookes at HSE Lux and Metropolis , commanding good money for low mileage minters . Can be up to £ 20k . In my experience i have noted the following . Craddocks told me they sell very little for the FL2 , when i purchased SS side tubes.
Also note how many dealers use the FL2 as a loan vehicle . Thirdly , why is a late low mileage FL2 commanding prices equal and higher to the Disco sport and Evoque .
Me thinks it is relaibility !. In the words of the john Craddock employee `we don't sell ought for them , must be the most relaible LR built ' enough said .
Down side , small boot , road tax £200 + , MPG 32-33 local . If you can live with that buy one .

Yep, over on freel2.com the thread considering this issue is 52 pages and still no answer. Especially since high hopes for the new Ford Bronco have been dashed.300bhp/ton said:
