Hi guys

I currently drive a 2011 Nissan Navara 3.0 Navara with almost 100000 miles

Looking to replace it in next few months for one that is approximately 2 years old

I use it for leisure and lugging rugby stuff and kids and bikes etc

Anyone got real life experiences of any of the following including issues ?

The new shaped Navara
The Ford Ranger 3.2 Wildcat
The Toyota Hilux
The Mitsubishi L200
The Benz X class
Any other options

I would love a F150 but funds and space don’t allow

Cheers

Stuart

The Ranger Wildtrak is excellent - as long as it's post oil pump issue.

If you want reliable, go Japanese. I ran a L200 for 3 years and nothing went wrong, it was fast enough and could get up to 40mpg on a run. A canopy helped keep the back dry and also calmed the back end. Warrior spec is the same as Barbarian but without the shiny bits, and includes dab, sat-nav, heated seats and dual climate.

Btw only L200 and Amarok are only pickups able to run in 4wd on tarmac, very useful when towing.

Budget?

Pretty sure you could get a nice USA spec truck for your money. Which would probably suit what you are using it for better.

Mr 300 hi

Budget about £20k but less than £25k

Unfortunately that’s way below F150 raptor money

Would it really need to be a Raptor though? The Raptor is such a different and purpose built truck, they are super wide and built for performing high speed off road. The F150 range of trucks is pretty vast.

That said, I have no idea what kind of F150/Ram 1500/Silverado 1500 you'd be able to get for your money, so it may be a non option anyway.

Personally I've always quite liked the Ford Ranger and in UK and Oz reviews it normally fairs pretty well or comes out on top.

However Ford have recently introduced the Ranger into the US market. And by and large it receives poor reviews, as it is no where near as good as an F150.

Problem with the f150 etc is they are not built for British streets/ parking etc. My amarok can be a tight squeeze in town centres.

Thank mr 300

Yes I know a raptor is not just a body kit on a F150

The uk ranger raptor has not had great reviews hence me looking at the Wildtrack £20k ish gets you a decent condition unit just a couple of treats old

Very true about size of an American pickup it’s like having a Luton van I guess but a hell of a lot more fun

Amarok are similar to my current Navara I believe but the newer shape V6 still a bit strong on the price

I've not actually seen a negative review for the Ranger Raptor myself.

The Ranger and Amarok are great if you only want to do 50mph on A roads (60 on DCs).

Why? They're not listed as having a weight of over 2,040kg unladen?

They are, I'm afraid. All Amaroks are over 2040kg;

As are all double cab Rangers;

depends - the VW ain't a small vehicle I suspect quite a few of the US pick-ups will be a similar size as long as you don't go dually That being said pick-ups in the US do seem to hold their value and are (frequently) work-horses

Interesting, very different weights than quoted on Wikipedia. Sure that will catch a few people out.
