I've bought the occasional edition of 4 x 4 Magazine over the years and generally enjoyed it.
Last year I took up a subscription offer. What a disappointment.
There seems to be little original copy in there. A lot of it just seems to be cut and pasted from manufacturers press releases. There don't seem to be any secondhand 4x4 buying guides, nothing on hands on spannering and modding and far, far too much space is given to Land Rover stuff. I appreciate that there are lots of Land Rovers out there, but there are already lots of other Land Rover specific mags on the shelves.
Needless to say I won't be renewing my subscription

Was it absorbed by Total Off Road?

The Land-Rover magazines have become very tedious with fawning articles and their pet "gurus". Also the sheer number of adverts which I guess keeps cover costs low.

Fondly remember LRO magazine in the time of Tim Webster with his green laning adventures long before it became fashionable.

I now subscribe to a U S publication called Crawl, lots of vehicle builds and published six times a year by enthusiastic participants rather than publication houses. The photographs and subjects are varied and interesting.

There is also lots of typos and bad editing in it. And sometimes repeat articles or old stories.
