Afternoon Folks...

I have instigated an off-road session on the TV&S forum - http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

Needless to say, whilst the site is in the Thames Valley, next door to the Atomic Weapons Establishment at Aldermarston to be precise, all are welcome to join us wherever you are. smile Check the TV&S thread for all the details, but it's basically turn up, pay £26 and play in the mud all day, with graded areas depending on your experience and your choice of vehicle/tyres, plus they have marshals to hopefully keep you out of too much trouble, or pull you out of any trouble you do get into! laugh

We're probably also going to do a green lanes outing on Salisbury Plains.

Altrezia is a member of the club there (www.4x4-withoutaclub.co.uk) so perhaps he might know. Or check the website to see.

I'd love to go on the PH Off Roading trip, but my inconsiderate sister is having her baby christened on the 9th frown Hopefully there will be more of them which I'll be able to join in on though

May be there - I'll have to check on their terms & conditions regarding child passengers.

Their safety stuff is here, and their rules are here

It's pretty comprehensive in telling you everything you can and can't do, including telling you that you are responsible for your children while they are on the site and that all adult and child passengers must be wearing seatbelts, but no mention is made of not having kids, or having a minimum age, so I would assume you're fine.

I won't bring mine on a full day just yet because they're only 5 and 2, but they've enjoyed the little bits we've done so far. smile

Sounds good - mine are 4 & 7 so maybe it'll be a reduced day with some angles done but not too extreme. Then some good tracks across the plain smile

We've not yet drawn up a formal list, but I reckon there should be at least half a dozen of us or more. I'm off to Slab Common on Sunday with the Pajero UK Owners Club as well, which should be a laugh! smile

It can and does get stuck! It's strong in some areas and weak in others.Slab will be a bit of a gamble, as a lot of it is soft sand, and I suspect it's weight may be an issue. If i keep geeting stuck I'll park it up and passenger with some chums.

Be aware that the Land Rangers are not favourable of large groups on the Plain so be prepared to split up.Ensure that you have relevant maps(Memory map better!!) and know where you are at all times and where you are going. The Plain is one place that you really do not want to wander onto places that you shouldn't be.Literal loss of life or limb, and possibly your vehicle getting confiscated are just a couple of the risks.Worse than that are people being an arse and getting it put out of bounds for the rest of us!!

It's all common sense and I'm sure most of you already know this stuff, but remember it isn't a Pay and Play site, just public roads, so best foot foward chaps, and we'll see you out there sometime.
