Oh dear. Just landed back in the UAE from my 3 year sabbatical in KSA and thought I would re-visit the old F-Type R/Evora search.... Distracted a little by an R8 V10, then this pops up in budget and I find myself watching all the youtube videos...

Anyone have any UAE ownership experiences to share? I think I want it very badly...
I've owned 2*12C (approx 47k km between the 2 cars) and am currently 12k km into a 650S. Probably also (partly) responsible for a few of the Dubai guys currently owning their cars. I'm more than happy to chat over a coffee or beer if you think it would help, PM me if you wish.http://tnydu.biz/DOuRMN

I don't know the history of the car you link to but it does appear to have been for sale for a long time (years rather than months).
I will hold back until I have my residence visa, and have to go to the UK for a week in 2 weeks time, but in 3 weeks I might well take you up on that.
Heart is still ruling the head at the moment... I should really buy that used Evora S for loads less, no deposit and warranty for my daily driver. 12C as a daily is the real question here, loads of guys say it can be done, but is it really viable?

Is it out of warranty?
From what I understand, and I would hope its the same in the UK, but any car up to 7? years old, you can add a 1 year warranty for about 3500 GBP.With respect to the warranty, I'd be asking some questions of the dealer here before buying a car with the intention of adding it later. If it has lapsed and the car is at an Al Awir type place then you may not be able to extend or may get a rather large bill for work to be done before they'll give you the warranty. The cost you mention is about right and I think that they have recently mentioned that they will go to 12 years? I personally would not own a McLaren in the UAE without a warranty.

My thoughts as well. Porsche (Al Nabooda) are quite similar. AED2k for the inspection and AED6k+ for the extended warranty on a 911 ONLY if it passes and meets their 111 point check or whatever it's called and no doubt you'd need to spend $$$ to get it to their warranty 'standard'. I imagine Mclaren here would be the same if not more stringent and I guess they wouldn't warranty a car that's not seem their workshop in the last year unless you cough up plenty of $$.Edited by Rich_AR on Tuesday 28th February 06:33
I am one of the owners that Jerry is responsible for talking round!
Bought an Azure Blue 12c in about October last year and have put 8k I'm on it since then. There's been a couple of snags along the way but nothing too bad. I commute in it every day Meadows to DAFZA and it's a lovely bit of kit for that
It is ballistically fast, comfortable and by far the best car I've owned.
Happy to Chat through the the woes and risks over that beer or take you out for a spin. However Jerry really is the man when it comes to McLarens.

Dan,Do you have to spend up to a set budget? Why don't you buy a reliable, non-ruinous runabout and get the Esprit TT you have always hankered after?

Budget runabout is not my style, plus only one parking space in the apartment I'm getting. And when was the last time you saw an Esprit for sale in the UAE, let alone one at the right price. 30k GBP is about right for a good one, that's 150K AED. Last one I saw was 300+!!
I could get a 12C for that....

Could you not import an Esprit yourself from the US?
I'm going to start searching properly for a motor over the next few months no that we have settled a bit more and found out feet. So question now is what exactly to buy. Definitely want a 4x4 and a few things have caught my eye being Cayenne S, Grand Cherokee maybe the new shape patrol. If I'm going big I want a V8 though. There are some decent deals for new stuff (I guess dealers are struggling) and also used but buying used really scares me out here. Are there any good reputable dealers recommended here? Edit: 'here' is Dubai. Further edit: budget 150k

There's a Dubai PH member who bought a new Grand Cherokee and he fking hates it! The dealer is dreadful by all accounts too. I don't even think he'll comment out of sheer embarrassment for buying the thing . Only plus point is it's cheap and hardly costs him anything. GT3

2014 version, 80k GBP - ish. I call that good value. How much are these in Europe? Let's forget about the UK fisting joke market and the porsche dealers' circle jerk.

A friend of mine just bought a 2014 for £135k over here, so that is a significant discount!https://abudhabi.dubizzle.com/motors/used-cars/por...
