That is cheap but looks honestly so. Over 8 yrs old (difficult but not impossible to get fc cover) manual and braaahn leather.

Quick google suggests the mtm s/c upgrade was $60k list and good for 560bhp.

I just managed to get fully comp ins on my 2002 996 turbo through union insurance out here.

If I had the money I’d be all over that R8.

Interesting on the union insurance. How much and is it a special policy?

Cover is for 100k aed and limited to 10k kms per year (which I set, so could be unlimited). Includes third party. Was 4K premium but with porsche club membership was 3.5k. Seems fair I thought.

That'll be a very long wait!

If you don't need read seats then the Cayman is a bargain, seen a few early manuals now with circa 100k kms sell for 40-45k
Looking at importing one from Japan. Not cheap though!
Do you follow nostalgia cars on fb? Theres a blue 2001 m3 going through the auctions this week, 47k kms, grade 4.5

Lotus Exige S

Yes please.

If I didn’t require 4 seats, this would be very tempting.

Has anyone any experience of running a Lotus here, what's general parts and service like? The red one at Alba is lovely but there's a few earlier models available that I've been keeping an eye on.

Dealership has changed hands so too early to tell, used to be al futtain who held minimal stocks. New dealer is Adamas Motors (who? Exactly) Their social media output is a little odd so far, launch event with their new showroom on the 19th.

Don’t buy one of the older exiges thinking you can ship it to europe and profit. They aren’t (and can’t be made) road legal outside the GCC. However the market prices seem to (finally) reflect that.

Deroure, elise parts etc all ship here quickly and give good service. Lotus specific tyres are cheaper and easier to get hold of from tire rack.

For service i would go indy, one of the race prep type outfits. a-tech know lotus cars very well and msw can’t be beat for geo/suspension tweeks.

Once csrs are over 10 years old then it's easy to register them in the UK. They just need an MOT

Even for a car without EU CoC? I was told otherwise. Is there anywhere I can read up on this? A lotus takes about a day and £2k in parts to convert to RHD.

If so i hope that 260cup is still for sale......

Reading a few other threads on here it would seem if its over 10 years old you don't need a COC, just need to put it through an MOT. I'm not looking to buy explicitly to take home but it'd be nice to have the option.

Yes..even without COC. I recently sent my Z1 there and it was registered with very little effort. I had to add side indicators, adjust the headlights and add an mph speedo (though most MoT stations turn a blind eye to this).

I may be in the market for a 911 in the not to distant future, discussions are at a semi advanced stage with the Minister of Finance and Home affairs ... probably a 997.2 if anyone comes across one not on the usual channels...

I would guess so..as my Z1 went on to be sold to a German buyer. His benefit being that EU taxes were already paid
