As said that GT40 pic is brilliant! Also for those with goodwood revival pics I don't suppose anyone has any pics of the Caravelle Forumla Juniors do they?

Caravelle you say. Not Goodwood, but I did manage a couple of the now infamous Jowsey vs. McLeod battle at Donington the other week...

Haha that has been said before!

I'm not sure if you know much about the caravelles but here's some info anyway, Richard Utley (number 47) and his friend I believe, named Bob, (I forget his surname) both built the MK1, MK2 and MK3. The Mk1 and MK3 (I think) are both owned by Richard and ran by Speedsport whereas the MK2 is owned by Bob who also ran at the revival.

They named the vehicles caravelles due to at the time the majority of the races were in europe and the name caravelle sounded slightly french and so they hoped it would help them be eligible to race (or something similar to this).

At the revival Richard, who is in his 80's I might add, still put in laps that were only around 4/5 seconds off the very front runners including Callum who only ran on the friday.

Thanks, buddy!

Evocative photos from Mr Layzell. The Andrew Smith T70 Spyder at the Gold Cup last year.

And Julian Bronson's glorious M1B heading up towards the Lavant Kink.

Finally, a bit of D50 worship.

Some cracking pic's, nice that some of the drivers have joined in too smile

I'll have a dig around, I've a few from Goodwood at home. I'm off to Snetterton for the GT/F3 meeting this weekend, so will try and get a few randoms (if it doesn't pour down!)

Wonderful machine! And very well driven by Andrew Smith. I'd love to see any videos you have. What's the history of the car?

I think he bought it in about 1983-ish from Nigel Hulme and campaigned it in International Super Sports and various David Piper races up until 2001 or 2002 when it was sold to Andrew. His last outing was at Silverstone when he led Jackie Oliver in a GT40 but spun off going round a back-marker at Copse.

For years and years it was the only Spyder you would see at races but plenty have come out of the woodwork in the last 10 years.

Some people went to Cornwall for the school summer holidays and we went to the Oldtimer festival, Coys, Spa, etc.. I drove it once on the road in rural Italy on the way back down after a hill-climb amongst normal traffic and it was hilariously fast. I think it used to produce 550bhp from the SBC

Thanks for sharing your memories. I'm sure I will have seen it at Coys and places previously. There seem to be scores of Spyders out these days and many being driven pretty well by the likes of Hadfield, Stretton and Sytner. We're very fortunate these guys are prepared to race them hard. I can't imagine what it's like trying to pilot one of those through rural Italian villages. I imagine the locals loved it though!
