I know this topic was spoken about in some detail before, but has anybody heard any updates as to when and if the changes will go ahead?

Doesn't say anything - the article is 12 months old.

Hopefully they have knocked the idea on the head.

Looks the pits to me, hope it does not go ahead, bottom bend/graham hill bend is a good test of a car and it adds to a fast lap time as is.

Exactly, it seems to have gone quiet, we are now nearing the end of the year, I just hope they scrap the idea. I've been trying to do a sub 50s lap since I started bike racing in the early 90's, I got my Westfield down to 50.5 at a meeting a few weeks ago and I'll be gutted if that was my last chance!
It's always been quite a technical section and if you're brave you can run down the left side and get underneath going into Graham Hill Bend. It would be sacrilege to ruin it.

If your name is Billy Whizz I guess you could. But I bet you couldn't do that time in a GT3 Bert.... smile

Sub-50 would take a serious weapon of a roadgoing car, even sub 55 seconds takes a fast road car despite what some people say. Or bike. I did do a 50 second lap, unfortunately only as a passenger in a Radical SR4, wings and slicks. Awesome ride......

StainlessSteve, just had a look at your Westfield , what a tool!!!

I was lucky enough to get half a dozen laps as a passenger with Duncan Cowper around Brands Indy too, in his 550bhp Dax Rux Hayabusa Turbo...... I remember him changing gear near the start/finish line and my head being flung forwards before being SMASHED backwards into the seat. When we looked at the telemetary that gearchange was at 120mph, we then hit 140+ into Paddock. Made my Yamaha R1 powered car i'd been driving there all day feel broken when I jumped back in it!

  • Edited to add that was in the DAMP on slicks...nuts

Cheers Lee, mine is still technically road going, but it's a bit of a handful as you can't get the tyres up to temperature.
Sub 50 is quite a challenge with no downfource too Bert, I've not got any of them new fangled wingy things.biggrin
