I have an LSD in my race TVR that has some aluminium internals and the casing is magnesium. I run outboard rear brakes.

Fitting a diff cooler and it will have a thermostat in line.

Its not been run yet so curious, what should "ideal" temperatures be, and how much margin should I have with the thermostat (eg. opening 5 or 10 DegC before optimum running temp).

Does anyone have any concerns/experience relating to leakage when running a mag casing (concern/paranoia, thus far unsubstantiated, relating to differential expansion rates. smile

What bits of the internals are aluminium? Why would you be concerned assuming the diff is as designed?

Parts of the Gripper Clutch are Aluminium. Concern that if things start to get too hot leakage will occur at the bearings probably and maybe even risk then loosening.

It is as designed, although designed for an e-type with inboard discs so potentially not such a severe service.
