We are delighted to announce that the Regulations for both the Beatson’s Building Supplies supported events have been published and are available to download from https://mullrally.org/.

Saturday 13th October – Beatson’s Mull Targa Rally.
Sunday 14th October – Beatson’s Mornish Rally Time Trial.

The Beatson’s Mull Targa Rally will follow roughly the same format at 2017 (tests and regularities) and is open to both Historic and Modern cars. It has a hugely improved route largely thanks to the support of the Forestry Commission, North West Mull Community Woodland Company and TSL Contractors. We did read all the feedback and retained the best parts from 2017. We dropped the rough and unpopular sections and have added some brilliant new sections. It’s sure to be an enjoyable event with just the right amount of challenge.

The Beatson’s Mornish Rally Time Trial will follow the same format as 2017, using the same 3.1 mile stage near Dervaig – probably the most scenic stage in the country?

Entries for both events will open on Friday 7th September at 7.30pm.

We look forward to welcoming you all to Mull for the “Best Motorsport Weekend in the World (maybe)”.

By the way, contact details are in the regulations and website, it’s best to use them and not Facebook or Messenger!

Thank you

A good few events coming up in the North over the coming weeks.

The wearside classic and targa is tomorrow (Sunday 9th September) at the Nissan Factory at Sunderland. Very smooth venue where a standard car will come to no harm even without a sumpguard. No road miles but some good long tests. Entry in

The Doonhamer Classic 30th September, starting from the Lockerbie trick stop on 30th September. One of our favourite events, great tests, some on gravel and well worth the trip up from Yorkshire. Targa cars as well as classics. Entry in

The Solway Classic and Targa, Sunday 14th October. This one ran some tests that were indoors last year in some really big old industrial buildings, quite unusual and not sure they will repeat that this year. Entry in.
It is the day after the Mull targa but last year some did both events including one crew in a Triumph TR3, not a trailer to be seen as far as I know, respect!

Would love to do Mull Targa in the V8 but the navigator has school on the Friday and the 600 mile round trip without a trailer is a little more than we usually tackle!

MrsSE is entering tomorrows Wearside in, of course, an MX5 with a purple PH smiley on the boot (and pink-purple vinyl) in the nose. Go and say hullo!

I think we might be doing the Solway, possibly.

Didn't even know that the Weardale classic was on. Just had a look at the entry list and lots of familiar names.

Mull was good last year but the island wasn't the same without the closed road event.
We took the hard decision to not go up this year missing only my third rally in 36 years. Hopefully the stage rally will be back in 2019 and we will be back up on Mull for 2 weeks in October.

That's understandable, the Targa/RTT will never replicate the "proper" Mull.

Anyway - 12 Car Rally season is back with us, tonight I've driving on Basingstoke MC's Papyrus 12 Car. I'm lucky to have an experienced navigator with me for the first time, so let's wee what little Linus the Ignis can do!

We are also out on the Papyrus in our Swift Sport.

The reverse seeding could be interesting, you will come past us at some point.

We actually needed to follow you occasionally! Thanks smile

That was such great fun, glad I was in the driving seat (excellent lanes) and not the navigator's (very tricky clues).

Delighted to have come away with the win, just shows that a standard £400 car is all you need (and an excellent navigator).

Next one - 28th Sept - Farnborough & DMC

No problem, the favour was returned once or twice.

That was an excellent result for you, joint 2nd was unexpected for us given that I stuffed up the nav in a couple of places.

Beatson's Mull Targa Rally this weekend.....

We have attracted a pretty good entry, not quite as many as last year but still the biggest road rally in Scotland.

https://www.rallies.info/webentry/2018/mullroad/en...

The weather is looking wild, so I wouldn't be surprised if we have to do some last minute reshuffling to cope with lack of personnel or flooded venues (one was under 3 ft of rainwater yesterday, another was below the high tide level).

Maybe see some of you there?

Good luck to all going up to Mull. Sounds like typical Mull unpredictable weather at the moment.

Busy time for me....
Devils Own Rally on the 20th October, probably the toughest and my opinion the best single day historic event around at the moment. Pretty happy with 21st overall and 1st in class considering the strength of the field. That was the last round in the HRCR championship, looks my driver has got 1st in class and I've wound up 2nd in class (provisional results pending an MSA judgement).

Excellent little 12 car in Ilkley's Skipton Trophy series last night, think we were fifth but some of the times look a bit dodgy so it might change. Was a good shake down for the Porsche 356, shame the windscreen wiper fell off.......

Then the big one for the year with RAC Rally of the tests starting in Harrogate on Thursday the 8th November finishing near Bristol on sunday the 11th. 95 Cars entered and once again some of the best Historic Crews in Europe. We are Car 21 in the aforementioned Porsche 356 (assuming the wiper is fixed!).

Spectator information is here, give us a wave if you see us.

A fair number of names i recognise co-driving on this event and I've heard from previous years that it's a great one...
The Sunday finish isn't far from home for me, but there's as there's no routes publicised I rather doubt I'll get to see it.

Best of luck, I've a weekend off this weekend, after the Exmoor Targa last week and with the Barbara Carter around the corner I'm looking forward to a little downtime!

There is a bit of spectator info for RAC Rally of the tests.

https://heroevents.eu/event-schedule/rac-rally-tes...

Follow the the link RAC Rally Of The Tests 2018 - Spectator Information

Marshalling locals usually have a bit more info, many of the test venues are not too keen on spectators.
