Hi All,

Wondering if any current or former Graduates drivers can give me some pointers on how I might go about getting involved in racing in the series next year. I havent raced cars before, lots of track days but no racing. However, I did do MSA karting from an early age, so have racing experience in that sense. I ordered my MSA Go Racing pack, and would aim to get a licence before the end of the year.

The problem I have is that I am currently based in very central London, and as such don't have any storage or workshop space for a car. We do aim to move out in the next couple of years, but I want to get involved with racing before then. With that in mind, I am looking at a solution whereby I could either:

a) rent a car for a full season with tech support provided at events, or
b) buy a car, with it to be delivered to events and tech support provided by a team.

I don't mind getting my hands dirty at events and would enjoy it, but I have little to no experience with the setup and mechancial aspects of Caterhams, so I think for at least the first couple of seasons I would require support.

Can anyone advise if either of those scenarios are possible, and is something that other people do?

I think I would like to race in the Sigmax series as it looks like a good grid and would like to get into a car that wouldnt need much in the way of upgrades in the next few years. The sigmax looks like a good grid and I'm assuming I would be able to find some racing companions towards the back of the pack while I get up to speed (literally).

Having read around the Graduates championship, it looks like a really friendly championship and probably slightly better value for money than the official Caterham championship.

Any info anyone can give me on how I might be able to get involved under the above constraints (or alternatively, why it might not be a good idea) would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Andy

Congrats on immediately zeroing in on the best club in the world evaar (biased)

There is a potential for either of your desired routes in, you have a choice of three companies which could certainly maintain and transport for you and you could also inquire about cars available for hire;
GRs (Godfrey Racing Services) Biggleswade
The Classic Car Workshop Pulborough
McMillan Motorsport Leicester

The Sigmax grid is strong with good reason, and the cars are currently at somewhat of a surplus by the looks of things

I could go on and on as I am excited for you!

Cheers for the info. I'll do some rounds next week to see what the options can be, but sounds like there its lots of potential to race with team support etc. Got my Go Racing pack through the post today, all very exciting!

It might be worth pointing out that Graduates racing is usually a full weekend affair with races on both sat and sun.

That suits many people, but not all. If it suits your circumstances then go for it, if not then there are other places to race a 7 where qualifying and racing are on the same day.

It's also probably worth saying that one of the beauties of racing a 7 is that there are several series that you can race in, meaning that you can pick and chose the weekends and circuits that best suit you.
