Hi,

In preperation for my first season of racing i need a race suit.

I have already bought everything else - stilo st5 gt helmet (composite), adidas boots, gloves and underwear.

I am based in the uae and so expect it to be quite warm inthe car! Budget is mid level, around £500. Can be flexible on this but not if it doesn’t bring noticeable benefits. For example i bought my boots and gloves after trying on pretty much everything in tweeks’ showroom and much preferred the fit and feel of the cheaper adidas daytona to omp’s one evo and sparco’s rb-8 (didn’t have time or money left to try on suits!).

Which suit would be best at this price point? I will be racing both open and closed cockpit cars over the life of the suit and value comfort and fit over everything else. Doesn’t have to be a major brand as long as it’s FIA compliant.

If you're a normal size, there should be any number of suits readily available that will fit. If a slightly not standard size, a custom suit might work better, although they'll cost a fair bit more.

I had one made a few years back by Stand21 and it's been great.. Short and fat isnt a common fitment for some reason lol.

Or try here

If temperature really is a concern, I think you can get water cooler suits ? Or maybe some undergarments that offer cooling ? Probably very expensive though

Having lived in Abu Dhabi, and having spent plenty of time at Yas and Dubai Autodrome (including karting at the height of summer), I would only buy the lightest race suit possible for UAE racing. I have a medium weight suit and that was bad enough in the UK summer.

Sparco do X-cool suits and underwear, and OMP has a Technica range. Some fairly good deals on Demon Tweeks at the moment.
