Corner Weight Scales

Different tyres will alter the corner weights- a tyre that is slightly taller than its predecessor changes things. I used to run a front running FF1600 and checked the weights after every session- they nearly always changed.
A Formula Ford will be much more sensitive to corner weighting vs a Mustang, I would have to agree with the other posters and do it pre and mid season and leave it.andygo said:

Nah, just give each front wheel a lift from time to time Bert
To those who have their own corner scales, may I ask a favour on behalf of the eligibility scrutineer community?
If you are taking them to the circuit, and someone (like me) is weighing the cars, every now and again, could you bring the scales to the bay, find a flat spot, and cross check them with the circuit scales/scales of the day? Obviously check with the chief and/or eligibility scrutineer beforehand for timescales/availability etc…
Most circuit scales don’t shift anywhere near as much as people think, but it’s always genuinely useful to us to have another reference, and I suspect more so for the competitor too.
Thank you for the idea of the parcel scales, I had no idea they were as cheap as that!

I recently compared to the scales at Donny and mine were reading about 30 lighter than the circuit ones.
We then raced at Snett having taken weight out because we knew the car was heavier than we thought and found we were a bit marginal on weight on their scales .
I didn't have my scales with me to compare with that day but strongly suspect that there was a difference between the readings at the two circuits.

Did you buy a set of scales in the end?
I'm just about to refit the coilovers to my Tuscan and tempted by using cheap 300kg scales but at ~1100kg it's very close to the limit per corner and suspect it may be wasted money. I have a couple of track cars in build (progress very slow though) that I'd like them for but not convinced I'll get enough use to warrant buying them.
I have looked at the Proform ones from Tegiwa Imports and they look like pretty good value compared to some- but this may be a bad thing if they are not well made. Any experience? If they will last forever then it would make it an easier decision.

Re the circuit scales and scrutineering. We got pulled for front ride hieght at Oulton a few years ago by the scrutineer. He measued ride hieght by sliding a 42mm puck on a stick under the car and as it grazed the floor he was going to fail us post race.If you are taking them to the circuit, and someone (like me) is weighing the cars, every now and again, could you bring the scales to the bay, find a flat spot, and cross check them with the circuit scales/scales of the day? I got our 7ft straight edge (A length of double glazing window frame) and proved that the scale surface was bent and bowed. He passed us, but do wonder how many other people have been penalised on the curvy scrutineering scales....
