Finally got license back after health problems so
hopefully get the Marcos finished and do a couple of races and get to play with the Brabham with its new F2 engine
I will be supporting-the gentlemanly end of the grid...

Great to hear that you have your licence back, Nigel.

Didn’t the Marcos used to be blue?

Hi Andy
Nothing gets past you - yep was blue - rebuilding it up as 1800 FIA version so potentially doing Spa 3 hours if it’s finished and papered
Maybe see you at race retro in Feb
Best wishes

Hoping we might get the Gem out with Bernies at least once this season.

That’s lovely - forgive my ignorance but can you tell me a bit about the car as not heard of them before

Just looking at your profile and see you have a Grantura.

Well, the Gem was Tommy Entwistles idea for the TVR for the 70s.
Tommy was arguably the most successful and prolific TVR Grantura racer of the 60s, he won the Freddie Dixon trophy three times, once going across the finish line at Oulton Park on his Granturas roof!

The Gem is a TVR / Grantura plastics one off prototype built in 67 for Tommy ( who owned Grantura plastics who made all The TVR bodies, he was also director of TVR)

TVR was taken into the 70, by the Lilllies who didn’t take the GEM up so Tommy kept on racing it up in to his eighties.

Here is a picture of my son taking it across the finish line of the 2018 Birkett, courtesy of team “ Grunties” 50 years after Tommy raced it in the Birkett in 1968.

Didn’t know anything about that despite reading a couple of TVR books over the years - great history

Enjoy the car

That looks great! Do please keep the pages updated with how you get on, I can’t be the only PHer who wanted to go single seaters but was too much of a wimp!

Hoping to get back in this at some point in 2020...although a house move last year has thrown a massive spanner in the works!

Couldn’t be much more different from the big cat. I can’t get my hands on the car yet as some work is being done to enable me to fit and drive it safely
