We was also at Brands on Friday. I was in the Yellow TVR Cerbera GT. What were you guys driving.

Thought the day felt like any normal test day and worked well. Was great to do something normal again!

I was in the black MX-5. We had a good day with no issues at all, it did all seem to be just like the old days other than the distancing of course. We got some useful data although our times were about a second off the pace, seemed to be the same for everyone at least.

That yellow Cerbera is a bit of a beast!

Yes I think the track was very very green,

At the start of the day we were a couple of seconds off. That came down to about a second by the end of the day maybe a bit more.

Everyone seemed to be having the same experience with the track being a slow. I compared the data with some historical stuff and we were just slightly slower pretty much everywhere. 49’s were our quickest and we would normally run consistently in the 48’s with a few high 47’s.

I’m blaming the track and not my post lockdown weight gain.....

I've found that BH does seem a vary a lot between days. More than other circuits. Perhaps it's just that I have tested a lot there being my closest circuit.
Also seen it be blisteringly quick in the first session and just slow down through the day. Sounds like it was the opposite.

I don’t know. I was fastest in the first session of the day, and then couldn’t get within half a second of that for the rest of the day!

Clearways seemed worst of all, I was losing grip very easily there.

That feels like a normal BH test day to me! Go out set a stonking time in the first session and think, wow there's loads to come if this is what I can do first thing. Then spend all day never quite getting there.

I’ve come to the conclusion I’m not racing this year. I only really enjoy it with the company of my dad, he’s in a vulnerable group, and we live miles from most circuits, so an overnight stay (not currently allowed) would be required.

It’s sad, and I miss it desperately, but it gives me a chance to finally get the bloody engine sorted.

The more snippets I am getting about what is proposed the more I think we should just forget about racing this year.

I said in an earlier post that there will be more red flags and safety cars and that looks like that could certainly be the case.

Several of you took the p1ff when I mentioned PPE etc, but it is still a big issue. For example the latest MSUK stewards bulletin said that the Event Organisers will be responsible for providing PPE for all officials. Yet some clubs seem to be taking a different view.

So at the moment, we have 28 booked out of a max of 38 grid for FF2000 (Historic and Classic) for the Brands Hatch Superprix in July so I'd expect that to be a very impressive pretty full grid. Confidence that it'll run is pretty high. So I assume any issues will probably be able to be worked out. Should be a magnificent sight. Sadly, not one I will be able to do (Mrs Bert is in the super-dodgy-people category).

That’s really great news. Nice to see they clubs and circuits being supported by those that can.

After 2 years rebuilding the car, boring medical issues that I thought would mean I would never get another license and covid 19 we finally got the car out testing at Oulton last Friday
Naturally we had torrential rain and heavy sleet but car ran well - driver needs work...
Onwards to Thruxton in July
Great to be back

Castle Combe Racing Club have sent details of their entries for 4th July. The Hot Hatch series has 50 entrants, so that's a grid of 42 with eight reserves. Saloon car series also well supported. So looking fairly positive.

Do you know if the coombe GT’s are also running? I haven’t had any emails etc.

Thanks

If anyone racing at Combe needs car transport or a mechanic give me a shout (hint hint) hehe

Been looking into what racing there is for me this year, the rule about stopping over in the paddock is really pissing on my chips. As will missing the CCRC races (as a spectator)

After reading the Motorsport UK guidelines I really can’t see how it’s going to work. 2 marshals per post, marshal gets the thumbs up from the driver then waits for the rescue unit. For every incident! There’s going to be a lot of red flags and some long days...

Which is what I have been saying since they made the announcement.

It is not only if a driver needs help, but as they will not be allowed to even push cars, then unless a car can pull up well clear of the track, then it will be safety car (with only the driver in) to enable a recovery.
