I love the idea of having capped lap times. Is that a thing used elsewhere?
Pretty sure the 24hr Creventic series uses capped lap times for some of its classes.Msuk have further delayed racing till june suspect that will go further than that so very unlikely we see any racing till late summer if at all.

might need to enter the races now. I predict they might get full grids if its that late.Msuk have further delayed racing till june suspect that will go further than that so very unlikely we see any racing till late summer if at all.

Doubt, you would be able to do this, as dates will move and certainly races will go from one event to another. Not that I personally think we will see any racing this year, Apart from maybe some winter series. Was wondering what would happen if we get no club racing at all this season - would we get a refund of our license fee. Apparently not...

I think it could be a difficult 2020 for club racing, especially as a lot of the meetings will be moved to accommodate calendar changes with F1, WEC, BTCC etc. But the optimistic side of me thinks 2021 could see some good growth. Despite everyone's income taking a hit this year, the enormous growth of sim racing (especially during this lockdown) may just prove to be the catalyst for those than can just about afford it to give the real thing a go next year. As long as people can build a car for £5-15k and run it for a few hundred pounds a meeting then it's within the reach of some of those who are now hooked in racing online. Maybe if clubs organise an e-series and give free entry to each of the online race winners it may make them thing about coming along next year...
It's hard to say, but you could be right. I don't think there'll be much club racing this season at all (if any).
Then perhaps everyone will be hooked on sim racing! Without getting into a debate about racing budgets as people manage in many different ways, buying a cheap race car and running it for a few hundred pounds a go is quite hard!

The most recently published annual report shows that the MUK had an income in 2018 of c£9.5Mhttps://www.motorsportuk.org/covid-19-qa-updated-2...
And a wage bill alone of c£2.75M. When all the other operating expenditure was taken in to account its overall surplus was only c£250k, I think.
This year it won’t have the income from event permits and the competitors levy and yet it will still have the salaries and other expenses (rent etc) to pay.
I would hope for some goodwill gesture but I doubt they will have any money to do that whatsoever.

CSCC have already announced that we have been bumped from our August 22/23 slot at Silverstone to accommodate a potentially re-arranged date for the WEC and wait until F1 starts trying to rearrange things!andy97 said:

Which is strange as wec hasn't got Silverstone on the new schedule.
it is isn't strange at all, its the organisers trying to second guess which country will be first out of lock down, allied to where the teams are based. I would imagine all the promotors of each championship is trying to do the same.I think racing in Italy won't happen this year, and I'm not sure it will happen in Spain either. UK, Germany, Holland, Scandinavia might be ok. France 50%, rest of world - who knows.

Yeah, that’s not going to go very far is it!
It'll cover the cost of some event cancellations. Many of the local clubs are run on a voluntary basis (the ones that organise all the grass roots stuff), so as long as they can tick over and not use up reserves / retain the use of venues for the future then they should be "ok" through 2020. The clubs that run race meetings on a commercial basis must be really struggling, and would be amazed if there were no casualties.

I would have thought it would go a very long way. Don't forget that this money is on top of the money provided by the Government to small businesses already. How many clubs are there with serious financial commitments? Most of the ones I belong to are run by people with full time jobs who do it in their spare time. They can all be removed from the equation which means more money for those at the more "professional" end.andy97 said:
I doubt that MUK have got much more to spare, it’s not a wealthy organisation. Fair play to them.
I thought they has 15 mill lying around to build the castle in the sky in Bicester.Interestingly the fund is only open if you've gone through every other avenue. Also I would personally prefer it if the MUK handed out a million quid to lower competitors costs. I think we all need a grant of some sort

If MSUK don't try to protect the "infrastructure" of motorsport there will be nothing for you to compete in.
As for having a lot of money "lying around" that is a contingency fund in case they get another large claim.
