can we share helmet and FHR at hillclimbs/sprints?

Hi chaps,

If we ever get out this year me and the old man are going to be double driving my stage rally car in our local sprint and hillclimb events.

I have all the required safety gear but it will be my dads first go at competitive driving and he is unsure if he will do this long-term. I suspect he will want to do the odd event rather than full seasons. With this in mind it seems a waste for him to get his own helmet and FHR especially as we have the same helmet size.

My question is are we allowed to share my helmet and FHR? I cant see it would be a problem quickly swapping over. I cant seen anything in the blue book which gives any specific clarity about this. He will have his own race suit though.

Yes, no problem sharing helmet and Hans. Just swap when you hand over in dual drive area. Not sure on the regs with current COVID restrictions and if sharing could be restricted this year.

Agreed. Subject to any temporary COVID restrictions, this wouldn't normally be an issue.

I don’t see why you couldn’t share a helmet and FHR if you are the same head size.
As long as it’s securely mounted and it’s the correct gear – go ahead.
Is there going to be any time gap between swaps? I wouldn’t want to stick my head into someone else’s sweat laden helmet … ooo-err…
This assumes you aren’t in the car competing at the same time of course…
