The carry bag was also inside out.

That''s right - seams of the carry bag on the outside so as to not rub against and scratch the helmet.
ahh, I guess that makes sense

My open face seems to be around 1520grams. Heavy enough really, that's without the earmuff thingies inside.

Just to follow this up I went for a Koden in the end, little tight on the forehead but hoping it'll bed in with time. Quality seems good, nice and light, can't complain really.

When your neck is carrying the weight of the helmet and you're maybe pulling high g's etc. Weight very much matters

It's not about just the weight of the overall vehicle, it's how it affects the driver.
Don’t want this to sound like I’m trashing the OP’s purchase (looks a good buy) but at 1570g it’s not what I’d call light.

The OP hasn't mentioned their own helmet yet or if they have purchased

It was Philip with the full face that was 1570, and my own new open face at 1520g. Which to be fair seems odd as I'd have thought there would be a greater difference between an open and full face.

I just weighed it with some Tesco/Salter kitchen scales I keep in the garage. Could not vouch for accuracy either way, but probably shouldn't not be far off

But yes....it is certainly not lightweight at all.

Had a Bell K1 Pro which was a great helmet for me, like them tight with very little movement and then let them wear in. The bell factory guys are at Daytona quite a bit for different events as a service to the drivers. They adjust the helmets where there are hots spots as you mention by using there thumbs and compressing the foam in these area's. Worked for me and the amount of compression I had to do on the foam was minimal which I feel did not compromise the safety of functionality of the helmet.

Recently got a Roux helmet based on the safety features of the helmet and the fact that the SNELL 2020 helmets were FIA approved also in case I get the opportunity to do a track day on one of my visits to the UK.
Not sure why Speedcom only list the 2015 SNELL helmets but my purchase of a 2020 was just last month so they should have 2020SNELL/FIA approved helmets in stock.

I'll give that a go thanks!
Having more time in it certainly helps, wore it for my ARDS course earlier in the week and it felt fine towards the end of the session. Now to learn Donington for my first race biggrin

Hi all,

I've done a video on helmet standards which was inspired by this thread. I hope you find it useful and not too boring!
