I think the Fassbender thing shows lots of aspects.

The sheer size and effort manufacturers put into racing, the cost of that bloody castle to host them all! The pushy and selfish attitude of full time drivers, you can SEE Campbell wanting to say stuff but he remains professional while at the same time realising he has no chance and this was a wooden spoon ride!

The futility of putting someone in a position they are only half prepared for and the resultant issues you find. Fassbender is very hard on himself and is very aware that he is the weak link, the extra pressure that puts on him is immense. He is a very private man anyway so the strop stuff is fair, but he is so hard on himself, the last few issues have shown a total breakdown in all honesty and the team must have been starting to think about replacement after all in some of that the footage he is a liability.

But fair play to him, I know it is a dream ticket but he does not come out of it well let's be fair. Other than being a very honest decent guy who is very well off and used to being treated like a pop star!

I think a good comparison is Patrick Dempsey. Who did years or racing in MX5s, RX8s and Mustangs before going to Le Mans in a Ferrari. Whilst he was never the quickest driver he was a safe pair of hands who got decent results working well with the pros around him. He is like the complete opposite of Fassbender.
