Quick update on our progress

The engine went of for a refresh, top end and carb, Not the strongest but good all over

I got a great deal on 8 wheels and tyres barely used which helps type logistics

New seat going in Tomorrow I hope

Car should make its debut mid month at Mallory for a shakedown and then we test At silverstone before going to our first race at Brands on the 12th April

Thank you, Yes my lad does a lot on line too. But very different experiences as the grip is so hard for SIMs to replicate. Not that I drive them, But My lad loves both however the real world 4 wheel drift you have in the FF1600, he just cannot get enough off. They are so much fun

He has a decent rig, but no motion capability sadly as we don't have that budget

grip and driving experiences are a key part for him, he recently got his rally Licence for example, so hopes to gain more experience with that to compare the 4 genres he races. He still Karts, plus does a lot of SIM work, and of course F1600 and hopefully some FWd and RWD rally work too

He is still very much learning and documents what he finds, as he is only 16

I will pass this all on to my Lad.

He loves talking about grip and car dynamics, I think as he learns more practically and can the test and adjust and feel the results in the SIM it really benefits him.

I will Look at the seatbelts, thank you, as H has said another big difference in how much more strapped in you feel in the FF1600.

Really interesting to compare notes, even if its a bit third hand by me as I am not a SIM or racing driver really.

One thing he does say is that without a SIM rig he would not heel and Toe as well

Thank you re the above, I think it does a really important job, and My lad is looking to build his actual car in AC so he can get more laps and testing it, so the worth is very clear.

We got some good running in, but had a few new car niggles to be expected.

Indeed, My lad has used both 75 and 72.
Prep work ongoing for this weekend, team are off to Donington Tomorrow and then Saturday.

Hoping that we can make more solid progress with my Lad and the car. Weather looking mixed, which is not a bad thing, be could to get some wet running in too

Test day at Silverstone National track on saturday 28th

Cold clearish day but windy

Busy track but actually not that many red flags

Car was ace, The team had a dedicated set guru working with H all day to refine the car. Never had that before, what a treat!

Lots of progress made, both in car and actually in the driver too

The team were brilliant, they had 7 cars out and sorted any issues out

The way the Team build and prepare the cars also shows the care they apply when choosing parts and suppliers to work with.

I think we are set for our first race.

I am both nervous and excited!

Great day at Silverstone on the 4th.
Tq 13, in own air really pleased with the time.
3 in the heritage class
Race 1, 14th, average start, then race long battle with the the 2nd place Heritage car. Just getting beat on last lap so 3rd in class.
Race 2, few tweaks,the cold and headwind were something else.
Better start, got to 2nd in class and had a huge battle with a number of new class cars. Battle was with two young drivers from the USA, so it was suitably fierce and intense. Finished 13th
Anyway the class leader suffered a technical issue and we grabbed the class win.
We now lead the class overall.
Great debut for the Reynard, not a bad showing for a 34 year old car.

Next stop is Brands Hatch, so strip and nut n bolt check the car and my lad should also be helping pre 2 other cars for next weeked for the Super classic event. Testing on Friday, racing Sunday.

We could hear you guys, but as you say very had to cross over.

We ran super early too, which was nice. I watched from Copse and the 2 and 3 abreast racing had me shutting my eyes!

Thank you. Yes we are planing on racing in Holland and in France. Due to costs it will be arrive and drive packages, as cost to take everything over is so much.

It was a long wait after TQ, but worth the wait. That is H's first ever win overall in cars, so he is buzzing.

The car was superb and a credit to the team.

His teammates in Class C also picked up class wins, so overall a great day

Yes we had a great race weekend with a 2nd and our first win..

one week off to celebrate being 17, some driving lessons then

Next up, H had to change roles and he was number 1 Mechanic to 6 cars being run out of Shaws Motorsport at the HSCC event at Snet.
Long days Bu really worthwhile as He learns his craft in this sport.
Then back in to the work shop to prepare the Reynard for the upcoming rounds at Oulton


Then Back out to Donington, this time to run the Boss, Mark in a Beautiful Lynx M2 Formula Junior Car


Will post some updates from Oulton Park from next weekend. We are also back to Oulton for the GT races too, we are also in the support races in the United formula ford events.

Finally we can confirm our European round is almost sorted, will post details ASAP

Harrison and the race team had their next outing at Oulton Park on the 9th

What a track, H loved it and despite having very few laps under his belt, even after the test day.( 25 laps in total over 4 30 min sessions due to red flags and incidents!) Not ideal, but I do get it

TQ Harrison got the Reynard on the front row

Race 1, the start was awful, the 2nd phase the car just faded rev wse, then H went out over the gravel at turn one, which was pretty scary as a dad to watch. Harrison recovered and fought back to 4th, with the fastest lap. The lap was 0.5 faster than anyone else, demonstrating the potential, but if you give up 5 places at the start you are sunk.

Race 2, from 4th, carbon copy of the first race start, less gravel trap time, but sadly contact on lap 4 again pushed H back and he finished 5th

We have now some damage to replace and make good which is all part and parcel of it.

The spectators at Oulton were amazing and we had a fantastic opportunity to show the cars off to the general public as they opened the grid with the cars for the lunch break. H really enjoyed talking to people about the car etc.

The last two images were of the contact and both drivers shaked hands after, it was a racing incident from the stewards and just two drivers wanting the same bit of tarmac. It does worry me now we are fighting at the front, as budgets are tight and he is only 17, so He is still learning so much, things will happen. but I just have to accept he is part of that battle and keep working harder to secure more partners. A lot of the more senior drivers have now accepted him, which is good.

Thank you, yes the racing is superb, and this year the grids have been close to 30 across all the series

My Lad actually works at the HSCC events as the team he races for, Shaws Motorsport, have a number of drivers who race in that series too. In fact my Lads partner actually races an early 80s Van Diemen. He was at Snetterton assisting to look after 6 cars.

I know that slicks and wings etc are far more appealing etc, but the budgets are huge. thankfully there is still a good number of younger male and female drivers coming through the FF1600 ranks.

Will you get to either the Walter Hayes or the Formula Ford festival this year?

Got you, sadly the team splits for cadwell as it clashes with Silverstone for our BRSCC championship.

There are a few date clashes which is hard work for the team guys

Re overseas, we are finalising a deal to compete at The Marcel Albers Trophy at Zandvoort in July. Fingers crossed at that would be amazing

We are very grateful for the Orange army and have met a few younger marshals coming through the ranks. I hope that the tend can continue, they are the life blood of the sport.

We only got in to motorsport because as a young boy age 8 / 9he was painfully shy, and risk adverse. He would not go on slides, bouncy castles etc nothing. I really feared for his future in education and thought he would be badly bullied. I tried all sorts and noting worked. I saw a taster day at a teamsport track and after some words he went out on track. He crashed and got a nose bleed and I thought that's that. Instead he asked to go again. He was slow and far from a natural, but he developed and we got in to owner karting, just really for fun and it went from there, 8 years later we are now in cars and he will talk to anyone and is fearless behind the wheel. I have no illusions of mad progression, just that he enjoys his racing and he can build a future from somewhere around motorsport.

Just seen from the Autosport National Rankings, Harrison is sat at 30th position. the 2nd youngest on the list and one of only 3 FF1600 drivers
