Hi, that looks to be liveried in the same colour scheme as the Robin Hamilton/Dave Preece/Mike Salmon car that raced at Le Mans in 1979.

Not sure where the car is now or whether it has raced again but it would be great if anyone has any pictures they could post.
It was stored at a car musuem in the grounds of Littlecote House near Newbury in the mid 90s, I have a few photos from then somewhere. From memory it was owned by an American and being restored to race again. This was at least 15yrs ago now though
Finally got round to hauling these out of the archive drive...

That's the one! an awesome piece of kit. They both used to race together didn't they?

I remember it at many AMOC meetings that I went to when I was younger. I remember one particular occaision at Donington when there was a thoroughbred GP and Group C race as there was a bit of a run in down towards the chicane with the orange 935. Looked like quite a nasty accident.

I'd love to see it out racing again, how about Britcar?!
I remember that meeting, enjoied every minute.

I remember being in the circle of conversation when Richard explained the "run in" - it was along the lines of "It was close, but I thought I could get through, so I leant on him. Unfortunately, Gerry leant back". That orange car was so awesome, and RC such a friendly competitor too. The whole AMOC series was a great thing to be part of - I wish it was still going, I'd watch every one!

Goodwood Fos last year:-

Really original still, rather him driving than me!!

Richard C is a nice chap and the accident him and Dad had was very unfortunate and they both incredibly lucky.
Richard does post on here (935) so I'm sure he'll add anything if need be.

I dont know whats worse: that scrutineering didnt notice all those extra tyres on the Porsche, or that they fell off so easily silly

I remember that car well. And a lime green 911 with a supercharger. And the XJ220. And the F40. And the F50. A few years back they let the yellow V8 race and the Caparo T1. Sadly, they only let the latter race once.

Intermarque used to be known as the race where all the angriest, scariest, most genetically modifed cars could race against each other. It was such a spectacle. Sadly, its a shadow of its former self.

It was a great championship from '89 until '99 and then changed quite a bit and went downhill but there were some great cars and a real mixture of what and who could win - obviosly the Astons and Dad were the best for me though!! wink They weren't always the most powerful, lightest or quickest though but Geoffrey Marsh and his mechanics always turned the cars out brilliantly.

Gregor,

You're not wrong there - was an inspiring mix as well, because all the cars were so different that there could sometimes be automatic position changes forwards and back each lap - esp in class A and B (C was the big boys, wasn't it?).

Some great cars, highlights for me would be the "big guns" up front, astons etype and 935, with the next group of 993 GT2's, (if he brought it out to play F40), the F50. In the midfield, the Cobras, the mint green 964 supercharged car, the Camaro (s), and then at the back the (in other series at the front) array of 911 turbos, RS's, that lovely 308, etc etc.

To me the best bit was that the paddock was so frindly, I never saw any angst, and a lot of times people gave way to avoid damage that would have served to do nothing other than add to the cost. At the same time, the racing was close and aggressive, especially near the front of each class.

So is it like the above (last year?) or Below

I'm sure it was GM that I remember watching race in this thing at Mallory very late 80's or maybe 90 (latest) spank the wole field in a race - lapped all bar the 2nd placed car in something like a 20 minute Sprint race!

Does anyone have any other info or photos of the XJ220 that raced in Intermarques.Who raced it and how did it do? I think it was possibly Don Law prepared and possibly red.

Mister,

Form memory the 220 was campaigned by Win Percy. However,I remembered it to be blue, but that might have been an XJR15 as part of the group C invitation class in the 5th anniversary year of AMOC.

Also from memory, the 220 was very quick, but on most tracks, the slightly more nimble E type / 935 had the edge. Please don't kill me if I'm wrong though =)

Couple more photos of RHAM1 from last year's Goodwood FoS. I also had a delve into the programme archive re XJ220s. Two were entered for AMOC Inter-marque (as the programme spells it) at Oulton Park's August 1998 meeting by Don Law Racing - a red car for Win Percy and a Martini car for Larry Kinch. Roger Bowman was entered in a red 220 at Donington in June 1999. That same meeting also featured the Group C Invitational race where an XJR15 was entered for Tommy Erdos. I have also turned up the programme for the BOSS meeting at Donington in 1997 where Intermarque is on the race card. I recalled that race with some clarity as it was the first time I'd seen a Group C car racing - John Dennehy's Nimrod Aston Martin, though I don't know if it ever raced again in Intermarque. Hope that helps.

Two different V8s Jon, both raced at Le Mans.
There were a couple of XJ220s, a Martini one run by Don Law and driven by Win Percy and the red one if I remember correctly was LHD and was chassis number 2 - Geoffrey Marsh almost built it but thought it would be over-kill with Dad in it!! I can't remember who did drive it when it eventually came out there - will check programmes tonight.

I have this photo (posted before on a similar topic I think) of the red LHD 220 after a contretemps at Silverstone. Not too sure on the year at the moment but I'm guessing something like '99/'00?

And the driver - Roger Bowman perhaps?

Didnt they use the Inter-marque to test the XJ220 prior to their le mans debut in 1993???

I'm sure I heard that somewhere.

I remember that red one, I've got some photos of it somewhere, I think from an AMOC day at silverstone. That must have been about 1998 - I was there as my uncle was doing a parade with a load of other astons as it was some special anniversary.

There was a white one as well I believe.

slightest knock and they just disintegrated, utter junk. I tried hard to get rid of mine and go Corrado but could never get the very rare TVR door mounting block - my cars driver mirror was held together inside with so much araldite!

Yep. See the pic's with Anthony Reied in it was last year. Did run in AMOC SGT - but that is now defunct as not enough of this level of bonkers cars about.
