Coming South on the Evesham bypass yesterday afternoon - I hoisted the thumbs up (from my blue Chimaera) but got no acknowledgement. Never seen one on the road before, thought it had escaped from Sunday's GT race!

It's a bit like when some bloke in a Cavlier gives you the thumbs up when you're tooling along in your TVR. Would you bother?

Well thanks, James, I've had putdowns before, but never had the TVR equated with a Cavalier! I'd rather take Stig's interpretation, but if a wave from a sportscar enthusiast is beneath the notice of Ultima drivers I won't bother.

And yes I would, if I spotted the wave, I love it when people show they like my car.

Hi James. Well the otherday I was driving my Skoda and flashed and waved at a silver Tuscan who flashed and waved back. I suppose it's just down to personality and how friendly you are ? If someone in a 20 year old rusting Lada flashed and waved while I was driving the 400 then I would reciprocate. But then I'm just a nice guy !

caro - ignore James - he'd prolly wave from his (Ultima that is).

I'll give you a wave from mine. I'm easy to spot as it won't even have bodywork on it for a while!

When it materialises that is

Not yet Ed.

Am awaiting the delivery of the first lot of parts. Due September but I'm working on the theory that, like Barter, it will arrive a month early. So If I'm REALLY lucky, sometime in early August.

Waiting is a nightmare!!!!

Stig, ultimapul,
Hey, I'm looking forward to the next time I see an Ultima now, the reaction on here says I'll get a wave!!

By the way, Stig, did you used to take your Griff when you went Locost racing? I remember seeing one next to a Locost on a trailer at Mallory, I think, during the first year of Tasmin racing when they were on the same card. Hope you get the Ultima soon!

Caro - not that I remember.

I used the Griff on several occasions for trackdays and the like, but always tow the Locost myself (definitely NOT with the Griff!).

I use an Isuzu Trooper for that now.

Cheers and a

Sorry, did I say Cavalier? Should have said Nova

I'm sure the guy just didn't see the wave He was probably concentrating on that big black roady thing in front of him, and wasn't expecting to be waved at.

I always acknowledge another high performance car driver if waved. I don't bother to wave first because I find I am ignored more often than not. So I suppose it comes down to "I will if you will" (remember that game?)

"i will if you will" - as in "I'll show you mine if you show me yours"??

"nova", ahh, a Vauxhall fixation , I see

i gavge a thumbs up to a red ultima on the A31 a little while back (me in an MR2) and he responded with a cheery acknowledgement (think it may have been ultimapaul from his profile pic). it's an enthusiast thing - same thing happened looking at a chaps GT3 in guildford (when it was first out), he could see we appreciated it for what it was..

More enthusiasts and less snobbery!!
