Hello everyone.
Now it's up to me frown.
I'm considering an American DEKA. here they say it's like the odissey or the optima 43ah and 500cca 12.5kg (!!).
what do you think?
I have not yet solved the hot problems: I will have to try adding a cable to the ground.
thks

After going through 3 different batteries this was my solution:

https://optimatrays.com/products/d34-slip-clamp-tr... Very nice way to hold down the battery.

Yellow top batter with the nice hold down and use a charger. No problem with batteries now.

Your are saying that that the 1100 pc is insufficient. Ive got a pretty stout LS and the 1100 works fine. If your are having difficulties starting the car on that battery I would suggest the problem lies somewhere besides the battery. Lee

ciao Lee.
unfortunately not.

I've just replaced it and it's hot from time to time the gtr struggles to start.

starter new, cables new and doubled.
the problem is only hot and it does not always.

here I read that someone has installed an optima: but the optima measures 17cm instead I have only max 15cm.!!

I have a shorter gtr ????
last attempt: double the cable of ground or two battery

Could be completely wrong, but If a sbc I would be checking timing is not too far advanced.

I’ve heard of owners putting a second dedicated battery near the starter?

Probably not the best idea if you don't want to cook the battery biggrin

Try to mount a standard size battery in the passengers footwell,
cover it with an alloy footrest, which you have to fit anyway.... and leave the Optima etc. thing out.
It's cheap and you can fit the model, which suits your CC needs,
rather than messing with weak, expensive and non-durable racing batteries.

my 1100 starts my pig of an SBC. I had some real trouble starting and fixed it all through marginal gains. I did a voltage drop analysis and found that my earth cut off switch was sapping half a volt. Other factors were where insulation was partially interfering with the contacts and few things like that, i had to analyse both the earth and positive side. In the end it now start very well. at one point i was looking at 2kw starters!

I re-engineered my car to use this

http://varleyredtop.com/project/varley-red-top-60/

It starts the car with no issues and copes well when all fans are running (2 radiator, 2 aircon and interior).

Heavier than standard but no need to worry about car not cranking.

FWIW, my GTR build has a second Odyssey next to the transmission, the bracket mounted to the frame rails. It did get cooked (or damaged), but only after more than 8 years of use.
Coupled with the standard battery, it turns the LS7 quite easily.
OTOH, I'm trying to replace the front battery with and Odyssey 1100 (already purchased it), and could use some tips re mounting brackets (it is too long for the stock battery mount plate) and the terminals conversion.

Whats the largest "physical battery size" that will fit in the Ultima Evolution?

I assume Evo has the same area as GTR in the battery section.

Time to tackle battery problems again. This time I'd like to remove the stock battery bracket. I was not the car builder so am a bit stumped. It appears to be fastened to the front pan, but there is a second pan fastened to the lower part of the frame. So a pan sandwich - but the bolts that seem to hold down the bracket don't protrude through the lower pan. What am I missing? And the bolt in the front/center of the bracket is countersunk in a hole that doesn't accept a standard socket.
There is a definitely love/hate with this machine.

remove the baseplate and make another! When I fitted my PC1100, I needed to make a new bracket for it. I would have considered ditching the second battery, the PC1100 should be enough to start it in any conditions?... unless you are running a beefy stereo? smile

A picture would help in this instance.

There is likely to be a captive nut (rivnut) holding the bottom bolt.
Is it possible th disconnect the top fastening and bend the bracket to get the battery out?

Post some pictures because builders use different methods to secure the battery.

Orthographic view smile . I assumed that both should be captured nuts, but as I began to remove the one in the lower right) it just seemed to spin, and I was concerned that, if not captured, I would not be able to re-tighten it. The top/center bolt head is recessed in a way that is too small to get a socket in there - or at least any socket I own. Any help would be appreciated. - Rich

Do you plan to re-use the battery bracket?
I suspect not so just grind off the bracket/fixings and start again with your new bracket.

Thanks. I'm was hoping to keep it intact with an eye toward selling the car someday and having all of the stock parts. But yea, it may come to that
