New owner - Black GTR 6.3L Supercharged AS engine, G50 box with LSD, AP Brakes, gold split rim wheels & gold aluminium panels throughout.
Recently bought this car, my first Ultima, intend to use it for racing only in Castle Combe GT Championship. I'm looking to find out anything & everything about this particular car & any info on serious modifications for a full race car. so far I know my car has an odd build history. bought as a kit in 2001 by a Mr John Askrew, who part built it between then & 2005, it appears to have nothing done after that until 2013 when it was returned to the factory to be completed, they also did the IVA & registered the car, it was then sold through a dealer to the first registered owner in Scotland. First owner covered 500 miles in it & then sold it back to the same dealer, it was sold again in 2015 to a guy in Essex who ran it with the plate ' UL11TMA', there are various You Tube clips of him taking it around Europe, he also had the wheels & rear wing mounts anodised gold. I bought it a few weeks ago from a dealer in Marlow with 4,500 miles on it. So far I have covered approximately 150 miles in it on the road, it is now being prepared for racing. Apart from the obvious race bits that have to be done, we have fitted 10.5" front & 12.5" rear Image wheels, fitted with Pirelli slicks, fitted an updated, new MSD ignition system with boost control, fitted a full flat floor, and are in the process of fitting a rear diffuser, improved side air ducts / scoops & the next job is to fit a decent front splitter & canards, along with vented front wheel arches. We have also tidied up the engine bay & have improved the air flow to it, as well as putting in much heat sheilding, relocated the engine oil cooler, removed the air con system & modified the exhaust system. I am not familiar with the chevy engine, we used to run a BMW M6 V10 race car prior to this, so the chevy seems quite crude in comparison, but it is putting out around 610BHP so plenty of power for our needs, but I would be interested in any information about this engine set up please. I have spoken with the factory, Steve Smith (recommended to me) & MacG Racing, all of whom were very helpful. Thats it, Thanks, Doug

Welcome and congratulations.

Have you had it on a Dyno? I remember a video of that car on YouTube overheating. The video is no longer online and the car was traded in soon after that at a Ferrari dealer. You have spoken to all the right people so far and I would only add Charles Dunn to that list. Very exciting that you plan to race it and look forward to future updates.

Pretty sure this car was at Dub Customs in Basildon being remodeled when I went there a while ago, what a wrapping company were doing with I don't know, they just said that they were rebuilding it for a customer.

Welcome Doug.

It will be worth your while listening to the advice from Jonny at MacG Racing. He has been there and done that.

Steve has Ultima and Group C racing experience.

You will need to duct serious amounts of cool air into the cabin without aircon. On the track these cars get HOT inside.
Heated screen for wet races.
ARB's for dry races - removable for wet.
Uprated wheel bearings and driveshafts.
Much stiffer springs. Get it down at the front too. Splitter needs to 'brush' the ground under braking.
A big challenge will be getting 650bhp of heat out of the rear clip
Get the air entering the engine as cool as possible. Hot air from the radiator flows over the screen and roof so raise the air intake.
Presumably the car is dry sump or you are fitting one. Gearbox will need a cooler and catch tank.
If you decide to do endurance races then fit electric power steering.
You could do a lot worse than fit an Albins sequential trans too.

I do hope your pocket is deeeeeeeep. It will put you at the front of the grid and the first across the line.

Let us know when you are running and you may get some Ultima support.

Thanks for all your replies. The previous owner had used Dub Customs to install an AIM MXL race dash & a few other electronics bits plus a race steering wheel & boss. I am based near Bath, and only plan to run the car at Castle Combe Circuit, these are sprint races only 20 minutes long, not endurance races like Mac G Racing so my requirements are different. I think we have taken care of the basics like heat / cooling, and whilst I would like a sequential box in the car, we are going to run with the present engine & box set up this season whilst we look to develop the aero & handling then perhaps change the drive train for next year, I expect this season to be a 'work in progress' year. I will post the dates we are going to run at Combe on here & any visitors would be greatly welcomed. Thanks.

has it got rose joint suspension?
has it had the modified rear suspension cups fitted to strengthen the wishbone mounts?

if you are running slicks id stop everything until this is done.
the uprated mounts will stop the mounts bending and the rose joints will mean no movement/flex in corners.

if racing there are numerous things that need doing and Jonny as Storer has mentioned is the man to see. although his isnt allowed to called an Ultima, its called a Taranis

here is his website (http://www.macgracing.co.uk/)

good luck have fun

welcome.
Also I in italy use the gtr on track for 90%.
you will have many, many changes to make if you want a reliable gtr, especially in high-speed tracks like Monza
After four years I still am changing ....
particular eye on the temp with the supercharger.
MacG is very kindly expert!
good luck
