I don't think it will ever make it onto topgear tbh its really a kitcar isn't it,still very fast though

its no more of a kit car than a noble! you can buy a fully built car straight from the factory to this spec.

I'm no great fan of ultima's i will admit that but the performance is very good, but i would imagine that a westfield/cateram could match it. i can't see how you can compare an ultima to a noble.I think the finsh and quality of a noble is far better

Well, the thing is with an Ultima, the quality of the fit and finish is entirely down to the builder.

The nature of its construction, ie. hand built, means that generally speaking, the quality of build is extremely high. After all, Noble can't afford to spend 6 months building a single car can they?

Of course, the Ultima isn't to everyone's taste, but this is an Ultima forum after all, you can't blame the guys here for getting a bit defensive about it

Regarding the 'kit' monica. Well, yes it is - if the definition is that you can buy a kit of parts and build it. But of those parts, in most instances the only donor items are the engine and gearbox. Everything else is made by, or for, Ultima.

From this perspective, other than not being able to build one yourself, the Noble is just as much of a kit car as the Ultima. If Ultima only sold factory cars, then there would be no difference between them.

Each to their own, but the Noble's still way slower

More info

Please find attached the data sheet for our new world record 0-100mph-0 run for inclusion on pistonheads ASAP.
You will find two data sheets attached because we achieved 9.8 secs twice in a row for good measure!

On our initial press release you will find that the 0-60mph time was listed as 2.7 secs. The actual 0-60mph time on the world record run was 2.8 secs. The 100mph to zero braking time was listed as 3.8 secs but is was actually a staggering 3.60 secs.
Obviously we didn't have time to fully study the word record data sheet on the day and only just received the full data sheet from Datron Technology this morning.
We are all delighted at the factory because the data sheet shows that the full potential of the Ultima GTR on the 0-100mph-0 still hasn't been realised. If you take our fastest recorded 0-100mph time of 5.5 secs (achieved during a successful 0-150mph world record run in September 2004 when track temperature was higher)
and marry it with our fastest braking time of 3.6 secs, then a low 9 secs is theoretically possible! Something to achieve another day.

RichUK,

That was me on the A420 on Saturday afternoon testing our new GTR640 demonstrator. We got it finished on Saturday morning.

Richard

Well it looked very good. MrsUK was all for chopping the 350z for one for the rest of the journey.

So the Ultima GTR brakes from 100mph to zero in 3.6secs which is exactly the same time that the Caterham R500 brakes in according to Autocar. Great result. Heavier car than the Caterham but I would guess the Ultima's downforce comes into play when the brakes are initially applied.

And about 3-4 times the rubber contact patch would help

I'm actually more amazed by the braking than the acceleration.... having been there when that R500 did its runs, I never thought any car would be able to match it on the brakes.

Put it in perspective that's nearly half a second quicker than the radical did the 100-0 on the same event/day as the R500.

awsome.

Andy

You are so right, the memories I have are not of the car accelerating, under braking was awesome, the nose diving to the tarmac as if someone had thrown an anchor out.

The other memory was bizarre, watching the car from about 150 metres, brake incredible quickly and hearing the engine still accelerating to 100 at the same time.

Driver must have had stomachache (is that a good word) after . . . such Gforces aren't pretty to experience.

Unfortunately due to strict privacy regulations at Millbrook no in car footage was permitted to be taken.
Very well done.

Perhaps a better driver would reduce the speed!

I suggest Graham the delivery drive.

Nice to finally see the headers that are made for 18 degree heads. If you have more photos we would greatly appreciate the posts. Do the headers bolt up to the head with holes that are aligned or canted at the corners of the exhaust ports?

Ken

The exhaust is made by a top F1/WRC exhaust fabrication unit for the Ultima factory, it has water cut exact matches to the 18degree exhaust ports for the manifold/header.

The exhaust is equal length primaries 32" if I remember and is repackable....

I know it is not cheap but it is the real deal
