Looks good. It was only a matter of time before someone did it. Autobionics were the favourites!

The issue will be cost, driveability and reliability. It will also be something a builder is unable to 'adjust/fix' themselves.

I love the idea but need to be convinced it is fully sorted.

Can get a Pdk box for way less than a g50-52....

Reliability wise, if they can handle a porker turbo
S, it will be fine in an ultima.

Would love to have a drive of one with one fitted - be awesome on road and track if software is good

Yes, congrats to the AB team, it was only a matter of time before someone cracked this. Some dyno testing video here, it does look and sound awesome:

Is the bell housing the same on the PDK and g50 and the 996 C2 trans-axle?

I am wondering if the current standard mounting plate provided by Ultima Sports will mount up the LS engine to the PDK

I don't think so, the G50's I believe are all 4 bolt fixing. The C2 996/997 gearbox isn't but I don't know if the PDK bolt pattern is the same as those types. I doubt you could use any factory stuff as it looks like a completely new/different set-up to any manual gearbox installation. There are plenty of images on AB's FB page which show you the setup, the flywheel looks a work of art and it looks like it uses the stock LS starter motor, which is always a good thing, as I guess the PDK won't have provision for mounting the starter on it. It also looks like there is a trigger wheel on the flywheel which I assume is for measuring input speed or crank position or something else to do with the PDK controls.

Sorry I don't know how to upload images so I have copied the FB links that show the setup.

I remember several years ago when I visited Steve and Jason, they had a white Can-Am which I think was a test bench for different projects.

Well done AB on your PDK project smile

I see the guys at AB have been doing full engine power runs recently also.

So is this likely to be a 'bolt in' for an LS7 (where 'bolt in' is likely to be just short of inventing cold fusion)? I've never like my rod-operated G50 (nor do I like the short gearing).

I think it is almost a 'bolt in' fitment.

It will need the engine ECU and the box. Not sure about drive shafts and mounts (if your box is the same era it should fit straight in). Wheel sensor for the traction control.

You then need the paddles and wiring.

If you have a G50/52 to sell it may not be too painful financially. PDK's are not too expensive S/h.

Watching with interest.

The electronic complexities and calibration required for these boxes makes it beyond a fairly simple change.

But, it's a bit of a game changer performance wise, so that's to be expected. Looking forward to seeing the first car.

A nice high revving LS with it would be amazing smile

it certainly appears that A.B. has done a great job in adapting and tuning that engine to the PDK. If everything is easily adaptable to other LS power levels then they really have got a neat product. What I would like to see now is a video of the car being driven in traffic at idle and part throttle. Those of us that have tuned after market ECU's understand that full throttle settings take a small percentage of the effort required to really get the rest correct. I would assume and we all know what assume spells that this combination would be very similar. lee

When I exchanged emails with them they seemed happy that it would work with a tuned LSA. I got the impression that the engine, gearbox, and ECU would be supplied as a complete package... I could be wrong.

^^^^Lee does make a valid point regarding ECU's and making them work at low and part throttle. Does anyone know which ECU is being used with this setup? It must be a high end product if it is also controlling the gearbox.
