Hi, this is my first post here, but I have been reading the board for some time and have learned alot about Ultima's from here, And for that I thank you all.

But my real concearn right now is, how much will I be paying in insurance for an Ultima GTR/CanAM in the USA? I imagine alot, right now I pay 4,000 dollars a year in insurance, with a clean record (I am young) Could someone enlighten me about their insurance payments... with age and record if possible, Thank you so much!

Get a quick insurance quote from Progressive... If you're under 25 years of age, you have better have money to pay for the insurance. But of course, if you have money to buy an Ultima GTR/Can-Am then insurance probably wouldn't be your main concern.

I'm guessing insurance for the GTR will be more than 3k for half a year (under the age of 25).

Insurance will depend on how the car is classified, your age, driving record (sometimes including parking tickets), and the state. Your coverage will vary as well. When I looked into it, insurance was comparable to owning most $50k (US) car with the minimum coverage. I believe that was around $2k/year. What car do you drive now? 4k even for someone young seems extremely high.

I need to do my research all over again so I'm interested in other people's answers as well.

Right now I am driving a 99 Mercury Cougar... 5 speed... classifies as a sports car so that is why it is high... I was only paying 2k before I got that car.

Well, if you were implying to get a quote off progressive.com or something, the problem is, that there isn't an option for an Ultima... so I will have to call them, however seeing that it is 11PM, i don't think that will be possible tonight

The factory should be able to point you in the right direction.
They pointed me towards a specialist insurer. I am 30 (well now 31) and have a good history, my everyday car is expensive to insure (360bhp cossie) but is not as fast as the can-am and is valued at about £8k. The Ultima is over 30% cheaper to insure.

This is of course in the UK but if you find the right company it should be the same over there.

Good luck

Well if you live in New Jersey like me, insurance will cost you 1 arm and 2 legs.
