Ultima Evolution
Discussion
Looking for some advice please. I'm
Considering a Evolution build, my questions are
1. Is it worth it ? How good are Ultima's
2. Is it expensive ?
3. Is it difficult ?
I do loads of track days with Goldtrack abs have seen an Ultima there.... it's looks amazing
Are they great on the track ?

1. Is it worth it ? If you are into a sense of accomplishment, because you built it, not bought it, it is absolutely worth the hours and money.
2. Is it expensive? Compared to anything near the performance its a 1/3 the money. But even the car that is three times the money and has similar performance numbers is going to have electrons doing all the challenging things on the track. Even if you got beat at a track day by something that cost three times more, on the way home your going to know that you had a lot more to do with what the car did on the track vs somebody in a whatever.
3 Is it difficult to build. Only as hard as you make it. If you stick to the factories cookbook its a piece of cake. If you start doing things like a other than a LS motor things get more difficult
Track days I was once a reasonably good driver. drove a Renault r5 turbo on track days and always had a podium out of 10 to 12 Renaults and a bunch of other cars in that class. The Ultima is so far beyond the Renault in speed I'm afraid I will never be able to get near its true potential. I am always behind the car on the track because the damn thing is so fast between corners. If I could put in 30 or 40 track days in a year maybe.

When comparing the cost....Its like comparing apples with pears without stating the engine supplier and spec (bhp), whether it has a Factory pre fit service, any tools purchased to build, SVA checks & costs, other services to assist such as wheel alignment, engine / drivetrain installation and / or exhaust coatings for example, includes the rear wing, etc (as that may be an item recommended to fit after sva completion) plus whether that includes value added tax.

That is true. I replaced my carbureted Amerspeed by a 550hp LS-3 with all kinds of upgrades for track use and it took north of €35k to get it done. I can imagine that when you go all the way you need some deep pockets.
Welcome to the group...... As others have said: DO YOUR HOMEWORK!
Going to visit the factory is an obviously good start. When you visit, discuss your needs / wants honestly, so that they can give you advice on spec & provide you with the correct cost estimates. There are plenty of options to consider and you want to go in with your eyes open from the start, don't kid yourself on a low spec to make it fit the budget.
From what you've said about wanting a track car, it sounds like you're going to be looking at 550bhp'ish, turbo / GT G96/7 gearbox (C2 'box is suitable for heavy track work, IMO), long wishbones, 19" wheels, uprated springs / shocks...... I'd then recommend looking at some of the high-performance fuel systems & exhaust systems on offer in the market, to really get your best bang for buck on track. There's also some great spring / shock combos on offer now, which transform the car on track. The new factory dash (AIM) looks awesome and the CAE Ultra Shifter is a must too (I'm biased!). Now the bad news - you won't do all this for your budget. I speak from experience with both my Can Am (high spec car with these upgrades and more) and my GTR (a "softer" car, just finished now and ready for IVA).
If you want to discuss further, feel free to PM me, or get in touch via www.facebook.com/ultima.can.am.build
