Newbie looking for a car

Hi,

I've been a long time Ultima admirer, and have recently made the decision to join your ranks.

I've had bike engined sevens for the last 7 years (currently have an MK Indy Hauabusa which I've put up for sale) and I race a Locost in the 750MC championship.

Earlier this week I viewed the Orange car that's for sale at the dealer in Harrogate, and been shown around and taken out in another car this week by an owner. I'm keen to take on any advice given on what to look out for / what to avoid etc.

My budget will be around 40, but I'm in no rush so will wait for the right car to come along. I like anything a little different (there was a lovely Sepang Bronze SBC that sold recently which I really liked), and I like to put my mark on a car.

There's a black on on Ebay with Pistonhead stickers on it. Anyone know the car? -

That car has been for sale with the same dealer for around 5 years. I looked at it about 4 years ago when it was red and it was in poor condition and to my mind it needed a major restoration. All the alloy parts had surface corrosion and it was being sorted for a fuel system issue. Maybe with the respray it’s also been given a makeover - you need to take a look yourself. It has Brembo rather than AP Racing brakes and a number of other modifications including the electrics which to my mind is a potential problem even though the car is relatively simple in design. When I saw the car it didn’t have an air cleaner which is major concern if it has been driven around like that - it also had a mild steel exhaust system rather than stainless or ceramic coated. The engine is at the bottom end of the power range which might limit the market.
