I am now on my second GTR build. 57,000 British pounds IS $74,000. Good luck
I just spend $138 for the fittings Storer is speaking about lets see coatings for the exhaust system, gold foil insulation for the firewall, change out the way to low 1st and 2nd gear in the 6 speed g96, I'm not going to spends a bunch of time on this but a good spec GTR is going to cost you $90 k. Seat shells included Paul in the list.

So you need engine, ecu, fuel system as stated.

My observations on the list for a new 2018 build.

Don’t go 18” wheels. Unless the factory has got michelin to make ultima sized psc or newer, you will only be able to get old tech tyres. Gotta be 19”.
The list you have is what I’d say is a budget build, even if you’re just talking the cheaper instruments, cheap shocks, cheapest gearbox etc.

I agree in ways with Paul’s comments re budget - you need to be clear what you want the end car to be. I will say imo though that the spec you list above will not fare well against a similarly priced atom on track.

It “almost” comes across as us being dismissive but it’s absolutely not - it’s comments based on experience. So a few changes to your list below, again imo:

19” rear, 18” front wheels
305/30/19 & 285/30/18 Michelin psc2
Minimum of Nitron shocks with 750/475 springs, ideal 8-850 & 5-550
AB exhaust
Front splitter
Rear wing
AB fuel tanks with in built pumps - fuel system needs to simple
Min 360mm front AP disks, min 330 rear
Some kind of trackday oil starvation protection
Ideally AiM digidash plus the sensors you want (although the atom 4 comes with this so you may want a change)
Gearbox with ratios to suit your intended use
Long front wishbones
Towing eyes
Front side pod vent

The above will give a good basis for a car you will enjoy on track long term.

Then there’s all the other personal stuff, interior trim, vents, harnesses, fire extinguisher, heated screen etc etc.

If you’re ever in Bristol you’re welcome to take a look at mine smile

Thanks all for great feedback, this is more helpful than you can imagine.

The Ultima I want is one that is as fast if not faster than an Atom 4 on track, if it's slower then I think it will frustrate me. The car I want needs to be track focused, I am not looking to use it much on road. I'm not too concerned with leather interior and all that stuff, I want a race car feel to it so bear metal is fine for me - much like the Atom - the more raw it is the better and more fun I will get from it. I've seen some very impressive Ultima interiors, for me this is not important I'd rather spend the money on performance.

It sounds like I need to upgrade the; wheels, shocks, brake discs, fuel tanks, gear box (996 not recommended for a LS type engine?), add HVAC.

I think I will go away and do more research and update the XL sheet with this and see what it comes out as.

Thanks for the offer to take a look at your car, I will be going down to Somerset sometime in Oct. So will reach out to you then.

Thanks

Re the gearbox, literally all G50s, g96s, 996/997 boxes are “ok” for LS engines, it’s just some are more suitable than others and you can have gears/ final drives changed to suit your use.

I still have a g50-00 in mine. A lot of people will say they’re not strong enough for LS’s, but they’re wrong.
Research the ratios of 996/997 boxes so you can get to know the type of boxes that fit your needs. I had my 5th changed to a longer gear, which is great for road use but I don’t like it on track.
Re exposed metal interior, it looks tired very quickly unless you’re a polisher, so light weight carpet is worth while.
Ask the factory if they can do you a lightweight body. I didn’t know it was possible when I bought mine and wish I had.

Aircon is a must; I regret not instaling or at least not provisioning for it to give me the option. It can be retrofitted but the amount of work now would be prohibitive for me and would stop be doing other fun stuff.

Whilst you may not be looking to add to your list, I would consider electric PAS. The geek in me also makes me think that a more modern wiring solution would pay dividends, something like https://www.bodylogicuk.com/

100% agree Bogbeast. If I was building again I would have a canbus wiring setup for sure.

With light weight body panels and a 700hp Audi v10 biggrin

Or a Le Mans spec ls7 if I wanted to be rude

It will definitely be faster providing you can pedal - with aero thats had some testing and peak speed that I had to limit to 170 on the back straight at bedford, often touching 140-150 on the other straights. You would be lucky to see 140-150 with an Ariel Atom supercharged - not sure about the AA4. Pretty sure I was also pulling more G on the corners - the old GTR gives 1.176g

Remember the Ultima GTR 720 - the one with chassis 1000% less stiff than the EVO - unofficially lapped the topgear circuit in 1m10s - the Ariel Atom V8 - the one with around 500bhp with wings/sequential gearbox - *only* managed 1m15s - even allowing for tyre differences, this is mightily impressive.

The only thing I would say is you won't get that motor bike feel with the Ultima, but you will have sensory overload, feel like you are in a baby LM prototype and have a very broad smile on your face! (without the bugs in the teeth problem!)
