Twice now my fused 30A relay has melted, yesterday I was stuck in traffic for perhaps 15 minutes with the fans on constantly, and it failed shortly after. This time just the 30A blade fuse had melted (the plastic) and the fuse itself had finally blown. I'm running a standard factory wiring set up.
I think those with uprated Evo fans run a different wiring set up to cope with the load? Given this has now happened to me twice I think it makes sense for me to upgrade my wiring. I recently fitted a fan in the engine bay which is also running off the same circuit, so this has no doubt not helped (though the first time this happened to me was before this was fitted).
Slightly odd that for the first 3 years on the road, even with fans on for a lot longer than yesterday, and in much hotter conditions, I didn't have a failure.
Does anyone have a diagram or details for upgraded Evo fan wiring?
