So it’s preposterously expensive to get the Simoniz Tough Black here in the US. I’m curious as to what other US builders are using to undercoat their body panels and how it’s held up with time and abuse. Right now I’m looking at the POR15 but I’m a tad concerned it might be too rigid and crack over time. Opinions appreciated!

3M underseal, it was on GTR 1.0 for 10 years before the car was sold, looked good at the end. I will state that I only applied the underseal to the panel in front and to the rear of the rear tire, not on the underside of the car. After 8 years and 30,000 miles, the aluminum and paint under the car looked very good but I have a lift and it received a lot of TLC. On GTR 2.0 I am more inclined to cover those areas in bra material and change it out when needed. dirt and mud accumulate to the rear of the tire and the undercoating tends to hold onto it even when washing that area maybe the covering will be a bit easier to keep clean.

I think a rubberized or truck bed type material does a good job of protecting the under fenders from stone and rock chips that can crack the gel coat. That is the area that showed most signs of abuse and wear on my car, albeit I do run slicks a lot of the time.
