Hello to you all.
This is my very first post on PH's, and also the very first forum on cars I have joined. I just wanted to say hello and hopefully this is the right thing to do?
I'm visiting the Ultima Factory on the 19th of May 2022 with the view to buying my very first Ultima RS and also kit car.
I have absolutely zero experience of kit car builds as I come from a world of normal car buying. Back in the early 90's, my Uncle and I were going to build a Ultima or Dax Rush, but marriage and all that crud got in the way, and for 30 years this has been in the back of mind. So now before the lovely government makes it mandatory to buy an Electric car (see Canada's latest BS) and also being on the doorstep of 60, I thinks its now or never, and I despise Never.
I am a rare bread nowadays in the fact I am on ABSOLUTELY ZERO social media platforms, so I am guessing this will make things a bit more harder for the non conformist in me, but I am hoping there are people out there who can still me on this some what scary journey.
I am currently starting the arduous task of sorting my garage out, it literary rains condensation and also needs serious TLC. I live completely off grid and also this adds to the fun, but I know other folks out there are in the same boat and have achieved amazing things.
I guess my only gripe with the Ultima's are the interiors, there is a GTR on YouTube (link below) that has with what I can see, a beautiful interior and all the mods cons I am used to....so any help on that would be great also.
So that's my pitch, and ANY feedback and help would be greatly appreciated, good or bad, as I'm certainly not a snowflake smile Mark

Hi Mark,
Welcome to Piston heads and welcome to the Ultima group!. As you will see its pretty quite in here these days but do use the search function as the PH group is a mine of great information. The reason for the quite is there is a facebook group which there is much more participation. Sadly that means signing up to facebook! so there are a few members that are only on here because of that. Ive met many people on here and in the community and have become very good friends with a few too.

Many members are on here of course just might take a few days rather than a few hours to get a reply!
Theres a few You tube journeys that might help you gain confidence in the build too.
Check out Will on DriveDriver Driven, he build the Evo the nsadly had to rebuild it after a track incident into an RS. Hell of a journey!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N0A4rIJAqAY
also Nigel on V8 Creative.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mkpkB1G1oF0&t=...
many parts and videos on both channels smile
I have my onwn blog but again teh damn thing is on FB...
https://www.facebook.com/Ultima-Can-Am-Scotland-96...
Hope that helps!
Cheers.

Hello Mark and welcome,
Wow, talk about jumping in at the deep end having no experience and never built anything before! Good for you by the way as many builders don't have mechanical or technical experience and knowledge.

Despite being a qualified mechanic, I chose to buy a built Ultima as due to work and family commitments, I didn't have the time to build one.

However, what I would say from past experience in working on and building and/or preparing many various kit and competition cars, is that the Ultima is the premier of kit cars, probably the best that money can buy. You'll get everything you need to build your car to your own specification and a host of help from existing builders and owners on here and the Ultima Owners Group on Facebook.

You also don't need very much in the way of tools and equipment either. The factory will advise you accordingly.

However, due to the success of the Ultima RS, I think there is a considerable wait list? I'm sure you'll find out next week. But if that is the case, then you 'could' buy a built car and 'rebuild' it to your own tastes and needs?

Enjoy your visit to the factory and best of luck.
Trevor.

To Mark and Trevor....
Hello chaps and thanks for taking the time to reply.
I should point out that I have watched Nigel Deans Vlog on continuous loop lol, also Humbles sad tale but what a upbeat guy with all his health problems too, very inspiring.
There is a couple more, the American guy (Ultimate Ultima RS) with the orange one with a very big wallet, and Rob 105 the Aussie who's doing a serious job also.
I am so surprised in this day and age of Vlogs, that ULTIMA themselves don't do a weekly factory Vlog? It just seems incredibly quiet for such a bench mark road car?!
The wait time at present for Kit A & B is 52 weeks...Yeah I know....As for Engines, I know that NIgel Dean mentioned in his Vlog about the LT5, but I have been informed my Richard at Ultima, that engine has been discontinued, I didn't ask why, but seems strange, I'd understand earlier models but not the latest and greatest so to speak.
If you guys could help me somewhat with events etc, that would be great..I'd love to pop along to an event and get a feel for the scene.
Again Thank you and kindest regards for the posts.
Mark

GM discontinued the LT5, not Ultima. In it's absence the LT4 is very similar, makes an obscene amount of power and can be upgraded to crazy HP with relative ease. That said, 52 weeks! Totally worth the wait.

Oh Godfather What Have I Done?!
So I visited the Ultima Factory Home on Thursday, first off the atmosphere was incredible. A really happy place to be, people absolutely proud to be working there was the vibe I got, well done team!
Welcoming, professional ready to down tools and chat (and by god I love to chat crap I'll tell ya)
Spent 2 hours with Richard and his incredible team going over all the options (sorry Richard) and then finally laid down the deposit.
So this time next year the journey begins.
I also would like to say, non of the videos on YouTube, the press photos etc do the car justice, in the flesh this car is just incredibly beautiful.
My only complaint about my visit was that I couldn't work there, I'd even sweep the floors (Not that there was any dirt to be seen)
Keep up the good work Ultima and thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Hello all...thanks for the interest and replies.
I was totally torn between White or Red, I had a F-Type in Red, and although I liked it, I just found myself going for the white with grey wheels.
When I walked around with Richard, he went through all the options (there's a lot!) and basically I haven't got a endless amount of money. I've gone for the Wing but not the more expensive side parts. Side skirt is a maybe, as I can add these at a later date, Front and rear splitter was the price of a small Citroen, so they will have to wait also. Didn't op for upgraded Dampers, but did have the 6 pot calipers.
One option that when I was going through the PDF's they send you, was the leather wrap around the roll cage, at the time I thought it sound a bit tacky, but on seeing it it is lovely, so again I will have to do some sums..Leather dash with analogue dials, no billet foot pedals, as to be honest you can't see them until you are inside.
As for the lump, Richard said there was no wait time, so most don't order until later in the build. The difference in the LT4 over the others is quite a huge HUGE hike, so as of this moment I don't know my friends?!
I meant to ask what other engines out there apart from a Yank V8 actually fits also? I know there's a guy with a Alfa V6, Audi RS etc etc.
Maybe as the cost of Petrol is sky rocketing, I'll go for a diesel 1.6l engine and a sound system playing sounds I recorded off my F-Type through huge speakers out the back...Good idea? Let Me Know In The Comments Below and don't forget to click and subscribe smile

All sounds exciting.

I always used to think that in terms of super sporty cars, only Ferrari's should be red. But, ever since seeing the promo video the factory did with a Red RS with gold wheels and contrasting black carbon I've been a fan and would, if I had deeper pockets, go down that route.

Hello and welcome. Like been said it is a little quite on here

I’m in the middle of my Rs build. Can’t wait to get the second kit ordered.

Looks like you’ve picked a nice few options.

Hi Mark
Welcome and congratulations on the purchase, the factory are really helpful, supportive and their products top notch. They have helped me enormously in my build, I’m still not finished, gone massively off piste. I’ve gone for the LS motor in 4.8L, lots of options in the LS range and huge tuning potential. Enjoy the build.
Regards Tim
