I know some of you have replaced the Holly carburettor on the SBC with fuel injection. The Holly has been compared to a watering can in terms of technology which I can well understand given the exhaust fumes from my Sport.
Question is, what is a suitable fuel injection system at reasonable cost, ideally avoiding a distributor if possible. Type, approximate cost and difficulty rating to fit would be helpful along with how good the result is. Thanks.

Hey Nick

I think I have already put my vote in for Holley smile

Here are some random pics to show the various stages of installation https://photos.app.goo.gl/zpocs9dEubZSySDx6

First start of the engine on YT: https://youtu.be/_cyNd7yPzBk

I went with the https://www.holley.com/products/fuel_systems/fuel_... - a full MPFI system.

Can leave stand ignition in place if you want or go completely DIS if you like.

I added a http://www.radiumauto.com/FST-R-Fuel-Surge-Tank-wi... to supply fuel at the right pressure and went headless/no-return which works fine. I use the existing carb fuel pumps to lift fuel to radium fuel pot.

The https://www.holley.com/products/fuel_systems/fuel_... is a simpler version of the setup I am using. Just replaces the carb, and uses the same ECU as mine (or so I think). Or there is the simpler sniper system that features the ECU built into the throttle body.

The basic setup on mine was easy, start with an engine configuration to define a basic map, then rely on the O2 sensor to refine the fuel. I imagine the terminator is even easier.

Hi Nick
I went for the Megasquirt MS3 Ultimate but on an LS motor, chose this system because it did everything I wanted at a reasonable price, at the time of purchase there wasn’t a plug and play option ( there are plenty now but don’t know about SBC engine) fitting was fairly straight forward and programming the ECU was OK, lots of info on the internet. Have a look at DIY autotune they have lots of models available.
