More than welcome.
Have a look at the thread re Stoneleigh as we are planing to meet at the Warwick services and convoy in from there which should now be well over a dozen which will make some din. If you can make it there then add yourself to the list. You will be made very welcome.

Take it easy with your new toy as they can bite. If that much power is new to you then take it very, very, very easy.
I think the tally is about 3 dead Ultima in the owners first month.

Wise words.

Ive sold 2 cars to guys that wrote them off in the first month.... a 355 Ferrari and an Escort Cosworth. The GTR is a whole new level... it demands respect.

Hello and welcome to Ultima ownership
Sorry, I am unable to help you in this particular matter, I do not run MSD ( it seems that most who do have had problems of one kind or another so help will be along soon I am sure ).

Electrics is not my area, but a long shot here. Don't suppose the vehicle has a hidden ignition cut off switch whhich is sometimes used to pass SVA tests? I have one that is key operated.......but perhaps yours might just have a toggle under the dash that might have been flicked off whilst braking for the roundabout?????

Welcome anyhow. See you this weekend?

Pete

Oh - BTW we are not obliged to talk to you until YOU POST PICTURES!!!

It turns out that I did not have the hazzard switch turned off properly and blew a fuse,I was a bit of a pig to start from cold and very easy to flood! now its warm it seems fine,One thing I noticed is that the engine tries to stall when coing to a junction,is this a common problem?????Im now worried that if I stall it it will not start!!!

I'm heading for EFI for the same reasons.
What happens is the Ultima brakes so hard the fuel floods over from the rear float chamber and into the throat which makes the engine even richer than it already is a tickover. It then stalls and is still to rich to restart.
I've fitted extension pipe on the float breather to try and prevent it flooding.
I've fitted a taper spacer under the carb to make it level but that has not helped.
You are left with learning to toe'n'heel to keep the engine revs up as you brake.
Enjoy.

ciao at all smile
I'm re-reading all the 505 pages of gtr ph.

Steve here you wrote that 3 owners of gtr were dead: why please?

if we can improve something in our gtr, it is better to know what changes need to be made, even if many years have passed.
mine is from 2001 ....... frown

very thanksss

I think he meant 3 cars were written off due to an accident (new owners first month on the road = inexperience).

I learned to heel and toe in a Hillman Imp which would stall whenever I pressed (or is it depressed) the clutch. They had a carbon release bearing which had much more resistance than the usual ball release bearing.
It was a pain then, but it helped my driving no end.

considering the fact that 100s of Ultima owners have driven millions of miles and there is not a substantial known fault in the car. yep I would say 3 cars written off in the first month is a classic case of the little brain over-ruling the big brain. Listen folks, for those of you who have not driven an Ultima with 500 plus horsepower, these things are world-class fast. But you say "oh I have driven a 600 horsepower......... whatever" Yes, you have snowflake and it had 6 computers managing to make you feel as though you were actually in control. All the real Ultima owners, you know what I'm saying. To all new owners, take your time, be patient. Go to a track and get a driver coach.

Mb try learning to manage power on a superbike is a good thought, certainly kept me out of the hedges, maybe the similar power to weight ratio is a connection? Many people can shout very loud about their achievements usually from the safety of the latest kit, and it will certainly embarass many but not many of us are actually great drivers, hopefully driving such an involving and forgiving car as an ultima will allow better skills to develop.
Anyway, lets hope that 2021 allows all of us to express something out there on the black stuff
