I think the main problem is the way the door closes. If it were to pull down then pull in to latch, it could even move up slightly to seal. I like the idea of a hard to or maybe targa top that might fit behind the seats. Pics look good

There is a central brace from which two roof panels hindge. The roof panels and the central brace can easily be removed and stowed behind the seats. I'll post some more pics as things move on. The inner skin is now covered in polyurethane foam to allow me to create the outer profile.

You may consider mimicking the Peugeot 908, use the current lower door and have a "gull wing" upper section for the window. This allows removal of the upper door for a "t-top" and possible storage of the upper door behind the passenger seat (this is where my windows are stored when removed from the GTR).

Ha Ha! The 'bean can' is actually a 3" diameter aluminium bar. It was just used for it's weight to hold the shape while bonding.

Dave your setup so far looks very good....if you are having problems with the roof design because of the door glass you could use the Koenigsegg door hinge system made by Raptor VX3 ... the door does outwards before going up??

As a current CanAm builder and my next stage is the body work, I have thought about a hard top too.
Having read through all the posts on this, has anyone thought about having a small hinged section at the outside part of the roof panels ( say a 2'' strip next to the window) that can be locked in place from the inside, but can remain unlocked when you shut the doors from the outside.
In other words you lift the hinged strip then open the door, get in, close door then snap-lock the strip in place.
The strip would be narrow enough that nobody could put their hand inside the car if security is the issue but at least when the strip is locked shut it holds the window in place..... It also means you don't have to lift the entire roof panel to open the door to get in.
Finally, if any of the hard top builders are interested in having it made in autoclaved prepreg carbon ( the strongest type of carbon you can get), then I would be only too happy to help since i have both the autoclave and the expertise in that field....And with a bit of co-operation we both end up with a carbon hardtop that works!
