Ultima GTR LMP "The re-build"
Discussion
This year I decided to REALLY go all in and do things right all the way... ;-)
Will post a bunch of shots of the rebuild here, but I can say that its going to be wider, lighter, new turbos and fully equipped for Gumball 2011!
To tear this thing apart might be completely retarded, but it was necessary to create something even more retarded! ;-) Always do things better then required!

You are my hero!
Fantastic job with the first car (at least re. the design), cant wait to see the second attempt! Generally everyone would recommend to leave the Ultima (as every car basically) as much as possible to the factory standard, as you will have inevitably problems with re-sale and lose all the money which you put into customizing your car. But I have always ignored that, too, and invested into the car without wasting a thought on the Return of Investment. My approach was a bit different, though, after having had similar issues as you on longer trips (more breakdowns than actually driving the car, wife refusing to drive with me...), I decided to change the car from inside out. Now all technical problems are solved (new LS7 motor, new gearbox, new fuel system, new aircon, upgraded cooling, new brakes, new clutch, etc. etc.) and it is technically absolutely fantastic and totally reliable.
Now it is itching again - would be a great project to work this time from outside-in
I think the most appealing design attempt I saw is from the German Porsche specialist company Albert (I bought my GT2 gearbox from them), here is a link with a pic of a red Ultima: http://www.albertweb.de/fahrzeugkatalog/ultima-gtr...
I would believe, though, that this is a design study (photoshop) and not yet a real car?
Anyway, whatever you plan, please keep posting. Would you consider to do more than one body-kit? Dont know whether you are completely re-designing the car or whether this could be then also used to re-fit existing cars? Just a thought...
Last question: the only one issue which I never solved on my Ultima is the extremely low ride height - I have destroyed already several front splitters, because especially with them it is difficult to get in and out of garages etc. Must have been a problem on your first car too!? Are you planning hydraulic dampers or similar on your second car?
Wish you all the best on your project,
Peter

I have moulds for the clips so just contact me if you are interested of LMP design clips... The old ones will be used to make the new plug...
Here is a little pic of what will be part of the inspiration for the new wider look...;-)

Why have they got the "Larry bars" going like that across the front windown? Do you know what the drivers vision is like? Here is a little pic of what will be part of the inspiration for the new wider look...;-)

(Larry Bars - in referance to Larry Perkins who first put them into the V8 supercars in Australia - the diagonal bar accross the windscreen)
The work has began... ;-)

So fun to set the first lines and figure out how its going to look! (but far from easy!)
Will keep posting as soon as more things happen, the chassie is of to paint today so we will start putting this thing together very soon! Deadline for the whole car is 1st of March!

A little update on whats going on, decided to do all the adjustment fittings on everything before we sent the chassie away, but I think that it will be done very soon so we can get on the way to mount everything back on there...
Really happy to have lifted up the bar right above the knees to get a little more space there, and a heating package never hurts...

Don't mean to be a bore over this but... removing some of those under dash diagonal tube will lower your rigidity. Jay added a small tube under his dash to make it a full X brace and gained 25% more torsional rigidity. You could be making it worse, and I hate to see you take a step backward bud....
Here's the extra tube jay fitted...
