Just for the love of big buttons, memories of dimly lit dancing needles, LED's and shiny things, I have had a "what the hell" moment and have so far collected this lot..
Anyone else enjoy such things?
Have a Pioneer record deck, but also a larger sized GEC one which fits the cabinet better.
Hi-Fi rack is Pioneer and cost me £1.

Pioneer amp.
Panasonic tuner.
Toshiba deck.
80's Pioneer CD (wasn't going to bother with a CD but they don't seem to crop up much)
B+O speakers.
Loved my old Sony amp and Tosh tape deck with their flicking needle displays and great big switches and dials. There's a lack of excitement in HiFi these days with touch buttons etc. Not sure I've got any pictures, I'll have a look.Anyone else enjoy such things?

I have a cupboard full of old hifi equipment. I have a mini disc player too lol
So do I. I also have a standalone Phillips CD writer.
I love the old look. I am a fan of the 80's black look. I know it looks cheap in the modern world but there is something about it.
Hopefully picking up a load of bits next week.
Would be interested to see some more pictures
Well, it has begun..will get some more pics up later...
I collected the speakers and the CD yesterday and had the amp delivered in the week. The amp is lovely! Exactly the sort of thing I wanted with a nice retro coloured blue light show, lovely chunky buttons and that reassuring feeling of resistance and a noticeable but dampened 'click' when the knobs are turned.
The Bang & Olufsen Beovox speakers still sound and look fantastic which is quite incredible seeing as they were produced in 1967! They are made from Brazilian rosewood veneer apparently and have lovely metal and fabric speaker covers with brass poppers to hold it all in place. They don't build them like this any more!
The CD player came in its original box and even has the working remote control.Back in the 80's, this would have been quite an expensive item and it still works fine and even plays CDR's perfectly.
I missed out on some lovely ADC graphic equalisers, but have a Realistic brand one on order now. Will update later for those interested.
Oh, I also had a bid running on a Technics tuner and won that, so I will now have two tuners and will decide which I prefer when they arrive.

I agree. My love for this sort of thing is the reason my garage would be full of old cars if the lottery finger pointed at me.Would be nice to see some pics if you get time. It's quite an eye opener when you look into this stuff. You can come across cassette decks selling for £500+ and record decks selling for a few thousand! I won't ever be spending that much, but it's suprising what you can get for a few hundred quid.

I have recently gone back to playing my old record collection after 15 years absent from the hi-fi scene. I love the retro/vintage/classic gear and I am in the process of acquiring a nice set up consisting of some British made hi fi from the 60/70s.
The 'Japanese' 70/80's stuff are also highly sought after especially some of the 'high end' gear. Here is a my Panasonic receiver with speakers I bought from a charity shop.

Nice! What a funky looking thing that is Still waiting for my tuner, graphic, cassette and a deck, but I set it up today to have a listen and update the pics. The speakers weigh a ton and despite being the cardboard type of cones (I assume that's all there was in 1967!) they sound really very nice indeed. From CD with some older style music playing, there is a warmth to them that I haven't really experienced before. They also had a feature where you could plug in a seperate tweeter on the rear to position it somewhere else.Pretty advanced stuff for 40+ year old items.Everything works just fine and when you insert a cd into the cd player, it takes only about one to two seconds to scan it and display the tracks ready for you to hit play. Not bad at all!
