At a tenner, I’d smile, and maybe give it a go just for ships and biggles. But £600??? You can buy a lot of used CDs for that…

There’s a thread on another forum, which I started (asking for newbie advice), which has recently seen a post from someone that the type of paint (satin, Matt, sheen) makes a difference... To be fair, he was shut down by everyone else, and he flounced.

Anyone think they've re-bottled this?
Which does work BTW (it's also good at keeping the dust off speaker cables)

£600, for what may well be a small bottle of contact cleaner.

Anyone remember the green (felt tip) pens that were supposed to enhance CD playback?

Yep

Its a bit like the 'hifi ethernet routers'

Trying to pull the wool over peoples eyes who don't understand digital data transmission and error detection and correction.

That is really specific about not getting it on contacts so probably not. I'm surprised the other stuff doesn't have graphene nano particles in it.

Yep. They were several times the cost of a normal marker.
Sad to say there are a few CDs in my collection with some tell tale marker pen around the perimeter (standard marker mind). I’m not a total idiot. nuts

Does anyone remember the little black circles and triangles that you could stick on your hifi bits for some mystical improvement?

In fairness much better value than the 1.5ml bottle.

Even that is pricey at £40 if you have to reapply it every 2 weeks ("at least"!). And a lot of faff. Does anyone really bother?.

These Loons must take the cake......

https://www.synergisticresearch.com/

A sample of their utter drivel.........

The quality of your audio system starts at the wall. The new Synergistic Research UEF Black Duplex, utilizing the same technology as Synergistic's world class SR Black Quantum Fuse, allows your high-end system to rise to unexpected levels. When you plug your components into the UEF Black expect ultra black backgrounds, holographic sound-staging, low-frequency extension with weight and control and linear, refined highs without a trace of hardness, despite their extreme resolution.

The conductor material is conditioned with a proprietary process that alters the crystalline structure. Then outlets are treated with 1,000,000 volts of electricity at specific frequencies and pulse modulations, creating a canal in the conductor material and contact points at the molecular level that allows electrons to flow more freely. The Synergistic Research Black Duplex is truly state-of-the-art and may well be the simplest and most effective way to upgrade any audio system.

He also has an unhealthy fascination with Gene from Audioholics. You should see the cringe inducing 'call out' videos he has on his FB page.

YEP
I remember using one that was free taped to the cover of a Hi FI Magazine
Once I has done the edges of my Whitesnake 1987 CD i relaxed into the sonic window that emanated from my speakers. I was able to hear detail that was previously hidden.
Still Of The Night was incredibly and emotionally pleasing to listen to. In the long guitar passage that starts around the half way mark previously hidden recording room conversations could be heard. Hearing David Coverdale presumably on the phone explaining that he didn't give a st that Deep Purple's comeback album was selling in droves was interesting.
If you listen carefully to the quiet moments in Here I go Again you can hear David saying its a shame I have to give some of the loyalties to that fat has been bd.
The pen opened up a sonic window into the recording.

I was all for greening up all my CD's but then I found the cost of the pens to be over a tenner so i bought a few C90's instead
TDK SA's - the best all rounder

There was also a green sticky ring that you stuck to your CDs to improve the bass response (or some such). They seem to be forgotten presumably as they had actual downsides (like getting CD jammed?). I had one free with a magazine which I stuck on Chris Rea's Road to Hell. You can tell the brand of tyres being used on the title track into. Astonishing.

Just for the avoidance of doubt, are you saying you believe that it works for its advertised purpose; "Improves both sound and picture quality" ?
