Speaker cables ?

I have recently upgraded my audio from an aging Cambridge Audio amp and cd player to Marantz 6007 range , I do have some pretty crappy cabling from the amp to the speakers though

What cables should I look at that wont break the bank, budget perhaps £50 for 10m of cable ?

In the spirit of the thread, you obviously need these:

High End speaker systems are often supported by spikes or the electronics are mounted on racks incorporating spikes..........many of these systems neglect a vital piece of the jigsaw.

Spikes for the listener thumbup

Next year Rodney.

In the context of people who are (to use Mr J's term) spaffing simply enormous sums of £ on stuff - like John caudwell and many many others, why not - because outrageously expensive, they're obviously the best...

Think of the margin Nordost will be making hehe

This is my listening chair, for similar reasons.

I wonder which costs more to actually manufacture - the cables or the little suitcase in which they come?

That chair needs only 3 contact points, otherwise, it will rock a slight amount. Unless, of course, the chair is flexible, but that means it's wobbly and will ruin your sound stage.

I put it to you, sir, that you can clearly see that it has only three contact points.

Nope, it has the same legs on each side, contact front and rear.

I believe I know my own chair!

To be fair, cutting the back left leg off did make it a bit wobbly.

Don't ask.

All I'm willing to say is that there is a definite sense of soundstage.

I had some time to fill recently and needed some speaker cable so bought this:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01N04XJ74/ref=pe_2706...

and spent some time constructing the cables thus:

results were OK and they work fine (to be honest I wouldn't know if they sound cr*p).

In normal use it would mean that the signal propogates at 98% of the speed if light in a vacuum.

This would be quite an achievement. Normally I think 50% is possible in copper.

In practice, if they have managed it, it would mean that you'd hear you music very slightly sooner. Maybe 30 nanoseconds or so sooner at a guess.
