on my Firestick yes. Don't go paying for the privilege of somebody building it up for you, you can now side load it on directly without the need for a PC, really simple. There are plenty of tube tutorials if you get stuck
HiI'm looking at getting a firestick and setting it up myself.
Can you link a decent tutorial?
Thanks

Search Youtube for Techtimeruuu. You will need the tutorial on installing ES file explorer to load Kodi on the stick direct. You will also need to watch one of the tutorials like how to install the Beast or Spartan wizards to start your build offI'm looking at getting a firestick and setting it up myself.

Funnily enough, I'm setting up a Fire Stick for a family member right now. This is my second one I'm doing. I did one for myself which my mum stole and I've got another one to set up tomorrow for a different relative. Pretty easy if you can get your head round the instructions. I'm using this guide: http://www.htpcbeginner.com/install-kodi-on-amazon...
The final media build that's going on it is called 'Dads Build'. https://seo-michael.co.uk/dad-life-kodi-build-uk-f...

So you basically install kodi then install a 'build' or 'builds' which give you the links to stream the content?

Thanks. They look easy enough to follow.

Install vanilla KODI from the official download page. Go straight to 'Jarvis' 16.1, because 16.0 is buggy and causes problems on some machines. So you basically install kodi then install a 'build' or 'builds' which give you the links to stream the content?
Install 'fusion addon installer'
use that to install a selection of 'addons' depending on what you want to watch. There's hundreds to chose from: "Exodus", "Stream all the sources", "LiveMix" would be a good start.
Learn how to use and maintain KODI, then if you want to be more adventurous install one of the many 'builds', where someone else has altered the appearance and addons installed.
If your google-fu is strong there's dozens of videos on the 'tube.

Good advice. SALTS is a good replacement for Genesis and you can access pretty much all recent movies should you want to. I have Kodi running on a PC through HDMI to my AV amp. Install 'fusion addon installer'

If you are into music make sure you follow the instructions for Audiophile settings. It makes a big difference to use WSAPI so your AV gets all undiluted musical goodness.
Plays ALAC out of the box and I've ripped all my Blurays to MKV which it also plays beautifully.

Sounds like a hardware limitation to me. I built a HTPC and it's never missed a beat. Before this I had a WD TV and with a USB hard drive attached it was terrible. All my movies now live on a NAS with a robocopy job to the local HTPC HDD and it works great.
These lower power boxes just aren't up to the job in my opinion.

Kodi the other day did put a post up about their disapproval. Along the lines of people assuming Kodi was designed for this (illegal streaming), not knowing that it is a free program that users shouldn't pay for, and also coming to the forum to complain and source guidance with fixing their illegal streaming difficulties. So I'm not surprised it's being cracked down on.
My Firestick isn't happy at all, bought it pre configured and was fine for a couple of months but now I can't get an sources to play content and even the firestick OS is playing up. I currently get a grey box appearing every few mins in the bottom right of the screen and the lock screen is messed up proportianly. Is there a way to start again with the stick and flatten it?

It all started back in Feb for me. All streams stopped working and Genesis development halted. Installed SALTS and it started working again. Can anybody help please..........I was watching the football using a Firestick with Kodi on it earlier this afternoon, all was fine when the Kodi programme just shut down, I restarted the Firestick and the same thing happens, the Firestick starts up without any problem, Kodi launches and its home screen appears and then after a few seconds the Kodi programme just shuts down

Had the same problem, ended up having to go back to a fresh install of Kodi to get it working.Gassing Station | Home Cinema & Hi-Fi | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
