Can anybody help please..........I was watching the football using a Firestick with Kodi on it earlier this afternoon, all was fine when the Kodi programme just shut down, I restarted the Firestick and the same thing happens, the Firestick starts up without any problem, Kodi launches and its home screen appears and then after a few seconds the Kodi programme just shuts down
Have you got a maintenance add on installed? If so try a clear cache and purge packages then do a router/stick reboot. If not you can clear cache by going to the Amazon home screen and go settings>applications>manage installed applications>select Kodi and clear cache.

If you want to reinstall Kodi there are loads of video tutorials out there, using ES Explorer probably the easiest. Failing that if haven't already then install Firestarter, you can then launch Kodi from the home button without trawling through the settings menu. Firestarter will also let you update Kodi through it.

To wipe your Kodi to a fresh start go to the Amazon home screen and go settings>applications>manage installed applications>select Kodi and then clear data. Then have a look at at this site, loads of tutorials for installing various add ons.

You have to be some sort of prodigy to do that.

I've just ordered an M8S pre loaded jail broken android box with the wireless keyboard/mouse extra, for £39. Plenty of vids on Youtube about set up. Looking forward to getting it.

I have trouble with my ripped bluray mkv dts on fire tv kodi with stuttering tried just about everything from net, any tips?
Sounds like a hardware limitation to me. I built a HTPC and it's never missed a beat.

Before this I had a WD TV and with a USB hard drive attached it was terrible. All my movies now live on a NAS with a robocopy job to the local HTPC HDD and it works great.

These lower power boxes just aren't up to the job in my opinion.

I guess so, my previous mini PC build was fine with it.

Possibly the best £39 I've ever spent. Just superb. Sky Sports is getting ditched, saving me £30/month. Box Nation is on there, plus Amazon channel for the new Top Gear. And a channel with every T.E.D. talk ever given!!! I don't think I'm got enough years left to fully exploit this thing. Amazing.

Got a link to the one you bought? And was it easy to set up?

Highly recommended, I've set up three for friends in the past week. It has Vanilla Kodi installed, with a bunch of authorised addons, You-tube is your best friend if you want to expand your options

That's the same as I bought. Runs better thru ethernet, and the wireless keyboard is pretty much essential to do stuff quickly.

Cheers, just ordered the M8S, should be here Thursday. I'm pretty terrible with tech stuff, so fingers crossed I manage to get it working.

I'm still stuck in the dark ages with my Panasonic SD plasma which shows no sign of dying = no new (modern) tele yet.

Are there any of these kodi enabled boxes with a VGA connector?

Ive tried the HDMI to VGA adapters to try and get our amazon fire box to work with the Plasma but to no avail.

None that I know of with a VGA output, you can, of course, use KODI on a laptop or PC.
Most of the boxes have an RCA connection, a 3.5 mm jack feeding three coloured plugs, does your TV have red yellow and white RCA sockets for Video input?

From memory, its a PW6 monitor. I added a VGA card to it, but think it might only have a SCART input as standard. I'll take a closer look tonight.

You may be in luck, everyone has a scart/rca converter in a kitchen drawer, don't they? smile

Alas, not in my drawer(s), but its a possible solution. I think it might be easier to look for a cheap second hand computer and run Kodi on that.

Thanks anyway.

If it were me I would be looking at RGB/Scart over VGA which really is very crap indeed!

The new software on the firestick lets you launch apps that were installed via sideload from favourites.

I'm very tempted by one of these, particularly the M8s.

Not that I would at all but I assume that unscrupulous thieving gits could watch live TV on them? Of course that's naughty and I would never dream of doing such a thing.

Actually watching the stream (of anything) isn't naughty. Strictly speaking.

Well it isn't illegal anyway.

Of course having the box would mean you could receive live TV which would probably mean you'd still need a TV license. possibly.
