55" OLED or 65" LED TV...
Discussion
I am seriously thinking of upgrading our 50" Panasonic plasma TV with a 4k HDTV.
I have read that there are some who were disappointed with their LED replacement for their old plasma TV's, and if I am doing to spend near the £2k mark, I would like to notice the difference when watching Blu Rays and other stuff.
The choices are narrowed down to this OLED TV:

Or this LED TV

Would the OLED be the better bet, or are the newer LED TV's near enough in terms of picture quality?
Cheers.

Personally I'd go for size, its more immersive.
I had the choice between a 65" OLED and 75" LED. I picked the LED and glad I did.
The top end 2016 LED TVs do a good job of keeping up with OLED.
The spec on the LG you have linked says it only does HDR over streaming. If you plan on getting a UHD Blu Ray player then this is no good for you.
Also, read plenty of reviews where things like Sky HD look rubbish on OLED.

£2K might get you a B6 LG 55" OLED - better PQ than any LCD I've seen (and I looked at a few!) and is at least two generations on from that 920V.
It's also 2.0a compliant so HDR (and Dolby Vision) on all inputs.
Personally, I've always gone for a slightly better quality over bigger screen but understand others are prepared to sacrifice a little PQ to get another few inches.
Don't judge a TV using SkyHD - 90% of Sky content looked st on my previous plasma and still looks st on my current OLED.
Stream some 1080P or 4K or try a bluray or UHD disc - that's when things get interesting.

Depends on what the main viewing will be. No point spending all that money for a picture that will look rubbish most of the time.Stream some 1080P or 4K or try a bluray or UHD disc - that's when things get interesting.
OP what will be your main veiwing?

Cheers. We don't watch a lot of SKY any more, usually Netflix or Amazon Prime (and games) via the PS4. I have my movies and box sets backed up in MKV format across 8x 4tb HDD's attached to our HTPC (both DVD and BR, uncompressed), but sometimes play the actual BR through our PS4 too. All is played via our Denon AV receiver with upgraded speakers and sub woofer. It's also 2.0a compliant so HDR (and Dolby Vision) on all inputs.

Would it be better waiting a little longer to see if OLED TV's gain more traction?

SkyHD is a compressed, nasty mess most of the time - granted, they've upped bitrates on some of the movie downloads recently but it's a sad day when an advert on FreeviewHD has better quality than a paid-for movie on Sky.
My point is that my last plasma showed all the faults - to ignored a better OLED TV because it will also show the faults doesn't make a great deal of sense especially when you see what a recent OLED can do when fed a decent stream.

2017 will see a (relative) explosion of OLED sets from different manufacturers - some will be 'ok', others will be stunning but I suspect none will offer the quality/price of a discounted 55B6 from LG.
It really is an easy TV to recommend and is the one I'd have bought if I hadn't jumped in and got a 65 950V.
Go for it and stick to the ISF picture settings until you get a proper calibration done
The LED you linked is 60 inch, the 65 inch Samsung 'S'UHD TV is £1900.
I was in the same position and got the 55 inch OLED, would make the same decision again. It makes anything high quality (YouTube 1080p video or better) look amazing.
The advice I always give is to go and look at an OLED. If, after seeing one you aren't fussed then get the LED. For me, I couldn't spend a lot of money on anything else after I'd seen an OLED.

Not got that OLED but a 1080p bluray is excellent. 3D is superb (where it is an option). Upscaled HD is very good but of course it depends on the source. A SD DVD is certainly watchable but a SD TV, say BBC 1, and you know it. BBC 1 HD is very good considering. Netflix 4k is a bit marmite at the moment I think. e.g. Daredevil and Marco Polo are a bit different but that may be the intention, I fancy Daredevil is grainier, certainly a superb picture but I suspect a professional calibration will make it fly. BT sport UHD is superb (when you manage to get something in between the mountainous BT ads).
I don't watch or subscribe to any sports channels, we watch a lot of box set type programs, though..
OK, I think that if I am going to spend so much on a TV, I may as well get the one with the best possible picture, and the LG B6V would be the one to go for. Am sure the likes og GoT and my Star Wars BR collection would look fantastic, rather than just great..

Yeah, Currys were doing it with 10% off, search for the code, and they give 5 year warranty and better returns policy now than RS of JL. chandler99 said:
could of popped to a shop to see before you bit the bullett lol..
I did, yesterday. I went to see it in action in the RS store. What I meant was that I hope the picture quality is noticeable with my BR's, compared to the 4 year old plasma screen.Plus I am hoping the wall mount will be the same fit..
