I couldn't use the code that Davie sent me, there was a mismatch on the package we took which excluded us apparently, so if anyone needs it then as long as it is OK with Davie I can forward it on.
Interested!

Can you use the codes online if you’re an existing customer?

I’ve been out of contract for a couple of months,
Made a call today-now got
Signature tv
Ultra Hd?
Super fast fibre
Multi screen
Sports
£77 a month for 18 months
I was paying the same for the above but standard st broadband and no sports,so I’m happy enough with that.

No, new customers only for these deals. If you’re out of contract absolutely call them and recintract on a better deal though.

I would if I could, tried ringing and got cut off as soon as I pressed ‘2 for non-key worker’

I know a few who are allegedly using various IPTV solutions, despite me working for Sky and having access to deals.

Each and every one of them complains about how cumbersome the interface is to use, that it's not responsive and that sometimes it just doesn't work. Then they have to have their "man" come round and rebuild it after the encryption keys etc. are changed etc.

It is 100% dependant on a quick and stable broadband connection, although so is Sky Q to a lesser degree.

Sky is expensive, no argument there but it works. There may also be a school of thought that appreciates paying for something that is well done and the content that is shown on the platform is done so legally. Yes, I do get most of it as a perk of employment so it's maybe easy for me to say that it's worth paying for. When / if I leave Sky I'll revisit this question of (is it good value for money?).

I'd be well north of £100 a month to maintain the level of service I have.

Just saying.

My experience doesn't relate at all to what you said and I am turning into a technophobe lately. It works without a separate device from an app on my smart tv. IPTV, Netflix, Amazon and youtube premium is what I use, Youtube is a bit of a gem really

I have been without Sky for a few years now and reliant on Netflix / Prime / Freeview and have just placed an order via the other David on here. Can't wait, the Sky Q box is just better than any of the alternatives. That and I was spending £10 just to watch the grand prix on Now TV a bit too often.

The only device I have ever had that was as good was one of the original Tivo boxes, which ironically failed in the UK due to Sky not really marketing them well.

They ‘failed’ because Sky didn’t want to continue paying licensing fees and wanted to do it themselves which they have done with Sky+.

My point was Sky+ was in the offing so Tivo was never pushed or really integrated with Sky which was a shame as at the time it was much cleverer than Sky+

But you mention that the EPG doesn’t work which must make navigating channels a nightmare.

That doesn’t sound like IPTV at all. I have sky and IPTV and haven’t had an issue.

I could do with a bit of advice. My tv is due to end but it’s all changed in the packs front and in inside what I need to get now. I have 2 Q boxes and previously had all UHD and HD plus all channels car sport and movies what packs do I need now for the same?

I have Sky but not Sky Q, it works but not in heavy rain and I live in the UK.
I also have IPTV that includes VOD, it works as long as I have good quality WiFi signal and at least 8Mbps (just for the device). Sometimes I have problems with live sporting events:- up to 2 minute delay/behind the live broadcast, audio not in sync, video not always smooth.
The EPG is poor but that not what I'm paying for.

I've I've understood this right I think you need the sport and entertainment packs.

Some of the others might be able to help.

I don't work on the customer side or product offerings, so I don't know how the detail of the packs are out together. I work more in the technology and infrastructure side of things.

Christmas is just around the corner though and if there is another lockdown who knows what packages and adjustments will be possible.

Well here is my recent experience fwiw, good and bad.

Had Sky for ages, Phone, Broadband, and TV HD, Entertainment package plus Films. Old HD box and and even older router.

Bills got stupid, on occasions over 100, 109 being high point due to some long landline phone calls.

Microsoft team meetings online showed the broadband service was no great shakes, everyone else in house had to avoid internet and downloading as the voice and picture feeds on the meeting froze. Plus uploading meaty stuff over VPN just meant go and do some gardening time.

Started investigating upgrade to fibre, FTTP not available so FTTC first option.

During investigation looked in more detail at the bill for the package. £5 for free evening and weekend calls, that can go, never hit mobile minutes limit. Kids channels, she's now 30, that can ps off too. Hang on, what's this £18 a month Sports? Never asked for sports, definitely sure of that. Turned out, and when confronted over it, and I do mean confront, Sky admitted this possibly happened because I had free F1 legacy, and when all the packages changed the only way they could keep me able to access F1, which I'd stopped watching ages previously, was to add Sky Sports One,  with the selected sport F1 and paying £18 pcm for the privilege. At least that's the story I got, cheeky feckers.

So, ended up with telephone line pay and go, so far cost zero in calls, Fibre broadband, Sky Q and all the channels previously watched except kids and F1. £50 per month and no installation or setup costs.

Happy with that. Just have to get it installed now.

New modem arrived prior to installation, ah only two Ethernet ports on it, need 4. Purchase switch, redo cable handling.

Sky engineer arrives, nice enough chap, puts up new dish, installs stuff, all seems ok. Had tried to make his life easy as removed doors and rear panels off TV/audio cabinet and opened up all the cable handling so access straightforward and obvious what went where.

Sky bod goes, soon find all is not well. Terrible pixellation on any fast moving scene and online meetings even more difficult as it appeared that SkyQ box was using up quite some band width. Sorting out the cabling, what a bloody mess. Cables no longer needed were just left ravelled up with all the others, the connections around the switch were wrong, despite demo labels to show what went where, yes I am that anal, redundant mains adapters left plugged into the extension, and worst, Sky fly leads not inserted and tightened properly into the back of the box. Curing that lot sorted the pixellation but not the bandwidth issue, still only a few days for the remote line upgrade.

Now get a text from Sky that I will get a new delivery through Royal Mail. ????

Turns out to be the vertically aligned Sky 2019 Hub as opposed to the horizontal Sky Q hub. Wait for the fibre line activation date and text. Install the new hub, revise the wiring again.

No pixellation, no issue with bandwidth, 54 Mbps down, 15 up. cloud9

What do I do now with the redundant Sky Q hub, any possibility to use it as a mesh device? Currently up in the loft box along with all the other stuff that can't bring myself to throw away yet.

Aiui they're required to offer you same as new customers now.

Are you a Sky VIP? All the various installation and setup costs were reduced to zero using VIP vouchers in my post above. Some other discounts too, just had a friendly conversation with the Sky bod explained what did want, that not bothered about, and stuff wanted to get rid of on the back of the bill now being just too much to stomach. No threats to leave needed or used.
