Sky deals anyone?
Discussion
Been a sky customer for 14 years, they tell me I’m a VIP.
Moving house but there’s a month or so of living with the in-laws so can’t take sky with us. Asked could I suspend my account until we get in the new place and they said no. Best they could do was to put me on the cheapest tariff possible for the period then renegotiate. ( I was out of contract in Dec and rolling it on month by month as we knew we were moving ).
I’ve cancelled it and will hopefully get a better contract as a new customer.

It's something they used to do many years ago when there were individual package options rather than the 'catch all' Sky Signature. It wasn't used very often but you could 'suspend' your account for up to 90 days if you were moving abroad and get a 90% discount but it was very, very rare to see it. You'll likeloy get a deal offered to you either online or via text to return.Moving house but there’s a month or so of living with the in-laws so can’t take sky with us. Anyone got any deals at the moment? Currently pay £58 for Signature TV, Sky Sports, HD, Broadband and Phone.
It’s going up to £100+ soon and the best deals that they can do is £78 for the same.
I don’t want to pay more for the same and what we have works perfectly.
I’d be happy to pay the same as to what I am now.
I’ve cancelled it currently and waiting for one of those deals to come through. How long do they normally take?

Would be interested to hear how long it takes for "the call". Currently at full price again and need to do the cancellation malarky for a better offer. It’s going up to £100+ soon and the best deals that they can do is £78 for the same.

Sadly VM don’t cover us yet which is a shame and I’m sure Sky know that. However if I’m honest I’m not that fussed by Sky. We have Netflix, Prime and Apple TV (only pay for Prime).
I’d miss the F1 as that’s really all I watch on it, but will make do with Channel Four or look at Now TV.

Nothing yet.
Have you actually switched supplier and ported your phone number? Sky will get the switch request and realise you are serious, they should then call you. LosingGrip said:

I’ve given them my 30 days notice for it all. TV, internet and phone. All stops on the 20th May I think. Taita said:

Just got Q, cinema, Netflix, Ultrafast BB for £54 pm, no setup fee and put a referral code through from a friend. Seemed a good deal and was best I could get despite a few haggling calls.
Where would one source one of these referral codes?megaphone said:

- cancel and sign up as a new customer using another household member
- cancel and wait a few months and sign up as a new customer again
- don't cancel and pay what they ask

I contacted them ahead of my 18 month deal coming to an end. They have renewed me with a monthly payment slightly above what I was paying but actually slightly below what the annual increase was going to put it up to anyway. It’s all well below the standard pricing it would have gone up to at the end of the deal.
Original deal £67.50
After annual increase £73.40
Standard pricing £93.00
New deal £69.00
This starts now rather than in 25 days when my 18 month deal ended which is why I mostly avoid the annual increase which I have to pay this month only. The person I spoke to said to call back in 17 months or so to review it again.

14 years as a customer, paying a lot of money over that time
You're not in contract
You're not going to use the service due to moving
The best they can do is to put it on to the cheapest tariff for one month?
Why can't they suspend it, a payment holiday, or reduce another month so you effectively get it for free?
A bit off topic this but over the weekend I couldn't watch the F1 due to bad or no signal. I could watch the footy in Ultra HD so assume the equipment is fine (the dish is nearly new). I have twigged that the treeline on the other side of the road has now all got leaves on it. Would this be the issue? Just wondering what to do before getting an engineer out...
