I left the Singstar logo on my Panny plasma for over 12 hours and no burn.

If you set you TV up for proper viewing I really don't think it is an issue.

If you sit and play the same game for 8 hours a day for weeks on end maybe, but it is rare, and things like the LG oleds darken the HUDs, channel logos anyway.

earlier this year I bought a Samsung KS7000 which I now use with my One X, I think I paid about £850 for the 55" one. I looked at the LG OLED etc when buying it and to be honest I couldn't tell any real difference in the picture quality, I'm sure the OLED is better but maybe my eyes are just rubbish as there was no noticeable difference, not one where I could justify spending double the money anyway. I've been really impressed with the TV and haven't yet had any of the issues others have reported with them
Yep great TV, the MU7000 and MU8000 are the direct replacements this year, both would qualify for the Super UHD standard but samsung didn’t want to take the shine off the Qseries. Both are 10 bit panels as well.

Any more deals circulating? Hoping Black Friday has increased them

55B7 still seems to be hovering around the £1400 mark, cant find any Argos stock for the 1349 offer.

John Lewis had them this morning for £1399 but now out of stock. I think that’s probably as low as it will sensibly go at the moment.

The LG 49SJ800v looks to be another contender too. 10 bit panel and I really like LG's OS
LG LCD based TV's use IPS panels. I happen to like them, but many do not, worth you reading up about the difference between IPS & VA so you know what to look for.
I ended up with the LG in the end for 599 inc 6 year warranty. Not the most amazing tech out there but copes with all the formats of HDR and good value at this price. I couldn't go as large as an OLED or justify the Sony XE90 49 at 400 quid more.

I've been following this thread and just purchased the LG 65 B7, Bose Lifestyle 650, XBox One X and 4K Apple TV.

All being delivered and installed on Monday.

Currently have an 8 year old 43 inch Sony.

Should be quite a difference!

4K Apple TV.

Good bit of 4K kit, however the release public version of software is awaiting a change that will allow frame rate and HDR/DOLBY auto switching. So don't be too put off. It is running fine on the beta. I think the bit rates for 4k are on par with BT and higher than Netflix. It is impressive.

TVs to consider at the moment.

LGB7/C7
Sony A1
Loewe Bild 4, 5 or 7
Panasonic Z952
Philips POS901

I would happily live with any of those, chose the one that does what you need it to do and which OS you prefer really.

One thing they all have in common is.........they're all OLED.

Buy an LCD if you can't afford an OLED, but there really is no other reason anymore imho.

For me I would consider an LCD if I wanted a smaller screen, not going the other way.
We just bought the 55 A1, stunning picture etc.

Very surprised that there is no news of smaller OLED's yet, they must be losing a lot of potential premium sales from people who can only fit a 49" into their space.

From what I read when I was trying to get one a couple of years ago, they were pretty much making as many panels as they could... so no capacity to make smaller screens.

Shame... I'd love a 48/49", and would buy one immediately if LG made one.

LG OLED65B7V

LG OLED65C7V

Could anyone please explain the difference?

And for £2.5k is there anything better than this Monitor?

Worth buying from John Lewis for their extra guarantee?

Worth waiting until January?

Additional sound system for ~ £500

Thanks!

C7 is the currys exclusive model?

My understanding is that amongst the LG models, the panel and software will be the same, just differences in frame/stand/audio. So if wall mounting and external audio go for b7, otherwise go to a store and take a look at them in person.

As mentioned above there is no difference in panels, I've had my B7 for a few weeks now and it is very good. I recently added the LG ATMOS sound bar that Currys are now selling for £750 and that too is superb. I would buy the plain B65 and spend a bit more on the LG sound bar. I have an ageing but expensive top of the range surround sound system and this sound bar is better.

January sales should have some deals, then more reductions in Spring when new models are launched I think.

I know the OP didnt care about apps but the OS/netflix stuff on my 55b6 is superb, see no point using any other app or 3rd party device for that.

Likewise my hdd based media is plugged directly in, no wdtv or media server etc now

Also like the phone app remote control that works really well and helps with browsing too.

Just ordered the Sony KD55A1, UBP-X800, Apple 4k TV, PS4 Pro - all from John Lewis, delivered monday - Can't wait.

Would have gone for the 65" but measured up and probably wouldn't fit!

Picture quality to my eye was best out there - amazing.
