Hi folks

It's TV upgrade time. I've been researching for a few weeks and been into JL to review and talk to the customer service guys. Have finally decided on the above TV, will likely purchase through JL or Richer Sounds. As a final check I wanted to get any real world views here on PH.

The TV will be utilised mainly for watching standard & HD TV through a Smart Now TV box, and to watch movies either through the NOW TV package or via a standard blueray.

Can anyone comment on how the TV works with regard to upscaling of standard definition TV through a NOW box >? Also, how do you find wider viewing angles ?

Not interested in the sound quality as all sounds channels are run through an Onkyo amp for 5-1 surround.

Thx
Steve

Ordered from Richer Sounds at £799 which I'm very happy with. JL went out of stock very quickly when they lowered the price from £949 to £799 yesterday late afternoon.

I'm pretty sure this is the one I'm going to go for too. Trying to buy a telly this week has been stressful, prices going up and down...stock in then gone!

TV arrived mid-week while I was away with work. The boxes are big aren't they ! :-)

Looking forward to setting it up this weekend. Will close the thread with an update once I've done it !

Anyone know if the TV USB is USB 3 compatible or just 2.0 ?

Alternatively...would a bog standard 32Gb USB 2.0 drive be fine to record HD channel ?

Thanks, S

According to the online blurb, it has 3 x USB 2.0 ports.

Have ordered the 65, looks a good compromise price vs performance.

Well an update from me. TV now installed as below. Very pleased although haven’t really had the time to watch or test it extensively. It was relatively easy to set up and I think the smart remote including voice commands will work fine ... as I get used to it.

One minor niggle is the power cable length and routing. The system has a hidden cable system but it only goes cables to go down the left hand leg (from front) and the power cable is way too short to reach my power sockets. Would have been a better design to allow cables to go down either leg. Compromise is to run the smart connector down the leg and power cable just runs directly behind from the middle.

Picture below. I’ll need to move my centre speaker up a little when I can be bothered / have the time.

I've had mine since last Saturday and it does not disappoint. I'll start playing with settings one day!

Installed a 65" version for a client last month, it is a stunning screen.

Enjoy both of you.

I've tried the settings on Rtings, but does anyone know of anywhere else that suggests settings?

Sorry to reopen this thread with a problem. Anyone had problems with recording or timeshift ?

I’m using a 64Gb sandisk Cruser blade plugged directly into the 5A USB slot on the TV.

Its worked fine to start with, but now won’t record or pause live tv. I’ve deleted existing programs that I’d recorded off the USB stick so it’s completely clean but still no luck. It recognises I have memory card in place, tells me it has loads of capacity but just won’t record on the programmer nor pause.

Thoughts ? Haven’t had chance to contact Samsung but will do so at weekend.

There is also a UE55MU8000 available. But the only difference is, as far as I can see, the 'Picture Quality Index': 2300 vs 2400. But I wonder: is this difference visible for the average viewer?

Just to close the question I raised above. Turning off channel auto tune and doing a factory reset resolved the problem.

I've had this telly for just under a week now and love it. However it's developed a fault tonight when I've been watching a program on Amazon, and it keeps switching back to Sky.

Any ideas folks?!
