spotify randomly stops streaming
Discussion
Bit of strange one and trying to figure out if its the new Yamaha musicast or spotify.
Never streamed spotify to other devices but have used it for 2 years and its been great. Recently got a Yamaha speaker for the kitchen and seems to work great.
I then decide to get a Yamaha musicast amp and Qacoustics concept 20 speakers for the living room to go with it. Only had it running since the weekend but spotify randomly stops streaming to the amp or the kitchen speaker. Sometimes it lets me click play and it continues and sometimes it just says no (doesnt play).
I can't remember the kitchen speaker doing this but it may have done it once before i think. Does anyone have any experiance with Yamaha musicast or how to try figure out if it is spotify or musicast that is causing it to pause.

A few days ago I was getting something similar. The Yamaha RX-V779 has been running Spotify Connect flawlessly for months, controlled by the app on my phone. Then one day the music stopped, and it appeared to have been paused. I pressed 'play' and it resumed, only to stop again a few minutes later.
Sometimes pressing 'play' causes the icon to very briefly change to 'pause', then back to 'play'.
It is exactly as if it is actually being paused.
I've reset my router, uninstalled and reinstalled Spotify on the phone, nothing helped. I've tried tracing the network packets, nothing obvious going on.
I installed Spotify on an Amazon Fire TV and that runs perfectly for hours (that's also seen as a Connect device). The web player runs perfectly. The phone app plays on the phone perfectly. It is just Spotify Connect via the Yamaha that gets repeatedly paused.
I've done one thing that may have fixed it - in the Web player there is a setting 'Sign out everywhere'. I used that, then logged the Web player and phone back in, and with limited testing the amp seems to be playing uninterrupted. So far.

Mine has been working perfectly since I did the 'sign out everywhere'.
The odd thing is that the devices that support Spotify Connect (like the Yamahas) don't require you to sign in, the connection is initiated by the app and thereafter the device talks to Spotify on its own. So it looks like the extra pausing is coming from a signed-in device that has got out of sync.
