Triad speakers, anyone recommend them?
Discussion
Hi,
Currently having an extension and renovation on the house being done.
Part of this is to install Control4 and I am looking at home cinema for the main living space. It's been a while since I have had a setup. I have always been a fan of KEF kit, but I can get a good deal on Triad.
Anyone here have them in their own home or any of the installers out there recommend them?
I like the idea of the in-celling speakers than can be rotated to aim the sound towards the listening point.
I can get away with in-wall at the front but for the rears I am really looking at in-ceiling. I would also like to add in-ceiling height speakers to support Dolby Atmos.
Thanks in advance,
Royce

Triad certainly used to have a good reputation. I couldnt comment now but suspect that still do.
However, Control4 bought them out 6 months or so ago and personally I hate any dealer that is just selling you what they can get cheaply for you rather than what is a best fit for your need.
Hope that makes sense.

When you say 'a good price' how good is good?
And do they offer what you need or are you seeing the price and thinking you could make them work?

They will still be more expensive than KEF Ci series I was looking at, but a healthy discount none the less. And do they offer what you need or are you seeing the price and thinking you could make them work?

I can find quite a few reviews on KEF as they are a brand that is more mainstream and they are easier to get a demo of in comparison.
I guess the basic question I am trying to find out is if Triad is worth considering?

I’ve been dealing with / selling Triad speakers for well over ten years
Although there have been some running changes, the basic ranges stay the same.
There are often new configurations and mounting options, which helps with trickier jobs.
I’ve always loved the way they sound and now they’re way cheaper than they used to be, I really don’t see much that can do the job for the money.
I’ve got a Triad Silver 7.2.4 system in Surrey, if that’s of any interest.
(Although I have a pair of REL subs - 212SE and an S3SHO)
So yes, I guess I recommend them highly

Thanks Red 5
It's the rotating satellite speakers that caught my eye as a potential solution to not having rears at ear level.
What I am creating is by no means a theatre grade install and has many A/V environmental annoyances. I want it to sound presentable.
It’s fine adding in ceiling speakers for your rear 2 or 4 surrounds. Most ceiling speakers have always been able to focuse their HF outputs anyway. It's the rotating satellite speakers that caught my eye as a potential solution to not having rears at ear level.

As mentioned, there is little point in attempting 7.1.4 with this compromise. All surround and Atmos speakers would be on the same plane, so little triangulation could occur.
It would sound confusing!
You could do 5.1.2 though. Not perfect, but the front Atmos will work to an extent and with one set of rears, it shouldn’t get too congested.
As with all surround system though, make sure your .1 LFE is really potent, for the best overall souround system experience

5.1.2 is what I would be wiring for, if not installing straight away, a small uplift from 5.1 is what I am hoping for.
Haven't decided which sub to go for yet, but have strategically placed the kids bedrooms at the other end of the house already
Thanks for the input.

Exactly which models (for the main 7) are you thinking of going for?
What deal are you being offered in % terms?/
If you post an example of a model and the rrp you have been quoted, along with the price you’ll be paying, I can cornfirm.
Lots of confusion over this as the prices have changed so much.
