They must be doing something right as a company, they have been around along time and they seem to have a solid following and maintain their hold in the market,
You're not wrong there:

Do yourself a favour and pickup the reduced Arcam at £199 and the matching wireless sub for £249. At those prices they're giving them away!

Interesting thing on the BOOOOSE equipment...... They never list any of the specs at all, even the output power (RMS) is never listed!

I suppose, why list something at all if it's going to be far worse than the competition, better keep the aura of the name and brand up there as the real (and only) reason to buy the equipment.

Have you looked at Sonos ?

I have a Sonos Soundbar and Sonos Sub which are then complemented with a pair of "3's" on stands ...

The rest of the house is Sonos as well, mix of "1's" and "5''s"

Sounds awsome always !

I have a Sonos playbase and two play:1 as surrounds, it sounds great IMO.

More importantly, it is almost invisible under the TV, we live in a lovely victorian place so its hard to find something that disappears.

Yeah I looked at Sonos, one of the only other brands I like. Sound quality very similar.

I used to be a Richer Sounds fanboy but I thought they were just mass stockists and movers on of generic large volume stock... B and W are a respectable brand but I wouldn't say their sound excites me, at least not from what I have heard of their stock although that was many moons ago. Naim I know have been in the game a long time and produce quality stuff, I have not heard a great deal but remember their stuff being battle ship grey and really ugly! Arcam I do not know of.

Im happy with what I have to be honest. Cheap or not and marketing or otherwise I genuinely dig the sound. I am certain they cannot be improved upon for any less money, I did hear the Atmos Sony bar and sub side by side and it was night and day in terms of sound.

So you've already purchased it?

I get that you're happy with what you've bought, fine, that's the most important thing. But you're guessing that you couldn't have got any more for your money as - let's be honest - you didn't do your research, and you're hoping that you won't experience buyers remorse. So to state you're certain when you did very little actual testing, only in shop, and with very little knowledge of either the AV manufacturers (you've not heard of Arcam??) much less their product ranges just shows that the only person you're kidding is yourself.

I did enough research, and I am happy with what I have. Its funny that the product gets good reviews elsewhere, other than on PH. Luckily I have been using this forum for many years, and know to take what I read with a large pinch of salt.

Its all personal choice, I h ave other Bose products that I have had for years, they have had very heavy use, and still work perfectly and sound as impressive as they did when I bought them. I am pretty sure this latest purchase will follow the same path. If I was unhappy with it I would take it back, it's only a few days old, but I 'm not, and I have got exactly what I want out of it.

"hey guys, I'm after opinions, do you think this is a good buy?"

"No, try these instead"

"Screw you guys, I've bought it anyway"

Why?

Try asking the same questions on Avforums and you'll get a similar answer TBH.
As long as you're happy that's all that matters

‘I am an audiophile but have never heard of Arcam’!

Bose generally crap, but very good at noise cancelling headphones.

I’m not a snob by the way, all I have is a denon ceol at 250 quid. If I had the cash I’d look at arcam or naim

Following this discussion.

Bought the Arcam Solo sound bar last week and the Subwoofer a couple of days ago

Have to say that together they are pretty hardcore. Serious engineering at way less than half price,

As a result of this discussion there cant be more than a coupe of each left!!!

No Audiophile worth his salt ever has a soundbar instead of an av receiver with a 5.1 or higher system hanging off it.

Plenty of real enthusiasts have a sound bar in their front rooms. A full system in the lounge is unnecessary when they have a dedicated cinema room with a projector and monstrous sound system in what used to be a garage.
